Am in the process of doing a cam belt / water pump and full service on our "B" and since the last time round I had forgotten what a complete ant utter "B...." of a job getting that liner out is. :bang:
Age does not help either as the plastic become less flexible and more brittle.
The main concern is not damaging the wheel arch/wing paintwork getting the line out.
Hint/tip for when putting the liner back is to cover the wheel arch wing lip with electrical tape on the fron and back sides of the lip. Will protect the wing lip whilst putting the liner back and can then be pulled out afterwards. Don't use masking tape as you will forever be chasing torn bits.
At 64 years old (in Oct) and whilst I'm pretty fit swimming 3.25km in around 55 minutes (minimum) 5 days a week (16 to 18km per weak) today my body is telling me that car maintenance is not the joy it used to be.
