Looking at buying a Punto HGT Abarth, have heard some horror stories about their fuel use, (17mpg) 25-30 on a good day!! (n)
Is this true, or is that just some poorly maintained cars?
What can be done to reducer this?
I hard an induction kit actually lowers it, but what would a stainless exhaust do?
Thanks!!!!

Hi mate,

About 35mpg if you drive like your nan, and late teens to early twenties if you drive like you stole it.

Mods in general wont improve you fuel economy (some remaps can help when not giving it some) Induction kit and exhaust on thier own will probably decrease your MPG.

It will have poor mpg and you'd probley think it drinks more oil too, thats because you'd be used to what your 1.2 does, so you'll probley see the differance worse than anyone else, but if your happy with that go for it.

IMO the HGT have droped in value majorly over the past year and i dont think it will stop either with petrol prices and £205 for a years tax (thats without group 14 insurance) as the HGT gets older there getting cheaper to buy and more costly to run.

If a change is mostly out of desire, more than logic then goodluck but if not stick with what you've got.

If running costs on a HGT are going to be a bit much for you, have a look at the 1.4 16v sporting.
With GSR induction, supersprint exhaust and remap you should be somewhere near standard HGT power and still return decent fuel economy as well as lower tax band and insurance group 7!
