Thank you. I tend to gravitate to ebay so that's useful to know - come to think of it my daughter buys stuff from Amazon and has some sort of "fancy" account with them, Maybe I should mention it to her.

If she has a prime account then she could usually get free next day delivery.

The "add-ons" at the bottom won't necessarily be the same brand but looking at Spigen all of their screen protectors are now glass and nearly 20 quid a set and they no longer do my favourite neoflex ones. Boo

For the protectors definitely read the reviews..it's one of those things where a bad one is cling film with ideas above it's station.

Amazon Prime, that's the one. I know they have the TV package too. So how do I know if a screen protector is a good one?

By the way, thanks so much for helping me like this - much appreciated. I'm way out of my comfort zone with this. I'm going to get a basic £6 a month Smarty sim which is what Mrs J has and she's getting on fine with it. I think she can get some vouchers for introducing me? Still can't make my mind up whether to try "waking" the new phone up by myself, and maybe making a complete Horlicks of it, or getting my son, or the IT chap at our local community centre, to do it for me. John Lewis offered to do it for £30 - Like that'll be happening!

For the screen protectors I'd just have a look at the reviews and avoid any that feature the words poor fit, bubbling or lifting. But it's been a while since I've bought one..

As it's your first smartphone I'd not actually stress about the set up.

So for me if I fudged it up royal I could lose say 20 years of photos and texts and blah blah and log ins for god knows what. But it's actually all linked to one account so as long as you've got the log ins for that it follows you around and just downloads to new devices as you get them.

You won't have that account (I'm assuming you don't have a Gmail address) so it will ask you to create one. After that it'll just be case of connecting it to your WiFi so it can go online and update itself.

Obviously the sim card will need inserting to make calls, internet and texts away from your home WiFi. But it should pick that up automatically once inserted and connect on its own.

Once you've done the basic switching so I believe it does a little guided tour and there are many help videos on YouTube as well.

Pretty much if you download any apps make sure they are off Google play store and the publisher matches who you expect eg.

But otherwise it's as complicated as you make it in terms of set up really. Might just be an idea to give it a whirl and see if you get stuck. Worst comes to the worst they can be factory reset easily and you lose nothing of value.

Most complicated bit may be adding your existing email address to the Gmail app...(I assume you have one given you're on here). It can display multiple email boxes at once so if you want to it can be used to send and receive email. But this is a case of, typing in your existing log in and password it'll check them with the provider if they match your emails will start appearing.

Luckily My email is a google mail address - does that make things simpler?

I would have a good look on ebay. I recently bought a case for my phone which is getting old now so while it is still in use with a lot of people, the big companies have cleared out stock on old cases, meaning there are lots of bargains to be had.

I paid £5 on Ebay for a case still being sold for £30 on Amazon. I also got an official iPhone case which are notoriously expensive new for about £13. Ebay is my go to place, make sure to be specific about the case you want, with the name and model Steve suggested and select "new" and "buy it now" on the search.

Thanks. I'm more at home with ebay.

My favourite car washing toys. Both Nilfisk brushes are magic.
I quite like the wheel brush. I have never found a wheel brush yet that doesn't fall apart after a few uses. Normally I just use a decent sized paint brush with some wheel cleaner and it does the job more than well enough.

But I am also lazy and I like gadgets so that's definitely my cup of tea

Restoring the house. I bought a pipe bender today. It seems there are some poor ones around, but this one works well and was a sensible price. I shall be able to redo the heating once plastering is done.
My plasterer started work today and Im delighted with what has been done, Real progress at last.
I was wondering why 1 of the sockets in teh sitting room did not work until I came across this

Not very suprising when I also came across this, and these were really some of the better bits of the wiring. I am 100% certain what is now in the house, is 100% safer and less likely to set the place on fire. The cut wire in teh kitchen wall seemd to have burned the wooden frame at some point.
I have 36 junction boxes that are no longer required. THe lighting circuit is no longer connected to the ting main and all the earths are conected to earth not to various other things. Only 1 light is connected to 1 ceiling rose so 4 connections. There were thirteen wires in 1 junction box on the lighting circuits. Add in a 2025 consumer unit, new meter and connections from the mains and things look much better.

The best thing in this house was the built in cupboards which could have been used as the foundations for the QEll bridge.
I have now completed wall strengthening. 15m of steel reinforcement rods have been added in the corners, and all the internal walls that were detached from the outer carcass have been reattached and thoroughly cemented and concreted in place. Gas fire removed and a lintel put into the cimney breast which was in danger of falling down.

We have new roof onhouse and garage and new wire supply to the garage withe would you believe the correct earthing and wire for the job and a new consumer breaker unit as well. LED garage lights comlete the picure there.

I have to re route the water supply through the newly repaired stop tap. That could not be turned off at all. Hopefully in two weeks I will be able to insall the bathroom, reinstate the heating leaving just kitchen to do. Newly lined walls should make tiiling straight forward.

All the exterior walls are being boarded with 27mm insulated board and the loft is now almost done with around 300mm of the highest spec inslation I could find.

The down side is this is / has nearly killed me, Ive gashed my right knee and yesterday I banged my head on the roof fell and brke my glasses...

The upside, and this REALLY made me smile, is this morning rs Panda Nut was assisting and lifter the last remaining carpet revealing no less than £1000 in £20 notes!! Now that is what I call a result.

I have rebuilt the porch completely including the roof, and added exterior PIR lighting front side and rear. We have new front and back doors and some windows and a new internal hardwoord sill made from the old patio door frame sides.

63 trailers of garden rubbish and tree cuttings have been removed, and around 20 loads of rubbish and rubble.

Please daughters.... Can I have a holiday soon.

Answer, NO. More work to do in Mancheteser. Asm luck would have it, the porch door posts from the Norfolk house are oak so will make the supposrts for the replacement porch up north. Now where is the chain saw...

Ive spent £22K and I reckon the house is now worth around £30K -£40K more than our investment so while its hard work will make it worth doing. If youngest doesnt like the place it shouldnt take long to sell once its all finished.

Now.... how many mars bars can I buy for a grand?

Ive had this brush for the better part of ten years now. It makes wheel washing simple if a bit damp. The car brush is amazing too. The rrp is c £80. This one was £10 on eBAY as a sale / clearance. I think I paid £40 for the wheel brush. Its worth its weight in gold. If you remove the wheels for winter as I do, cleaning the reverse side would otherwise be horrendous this makes it easy. I used to spend 2 hours per car on wheels, to get a reasonable result. Five minutes does each car and this also good for the sills and under floor. Nilfisk do an angled under boday nozzle which makes wheel arches easy and gets the Pandas front rust trap too. They also do an underbody washer, four nozzles pointing upwards on wheels which I covet but cost of that is above my limit. My Nilfisk washer has just been replaced as the old one needs new brushes in the motor and I havnt yet found any, Apart from that its been amazing. I power wash the brickwork on our house to get rid of green before painting and mostly on an annual basis, ditto garage walls and roof which face north and get covered in moss. Its been used for around 4 car wahes a week on average and caravan cleaning untill the brushed made it die. One of my best buys ever I think it was 13 years old when it stopped working which is way better than any other make I have had. Hightly recommended. Though. I wonder If I could paint the walls algae green.

I had another hemoglobin A1C test today and I'm happy to say that it dropped from 8 to 6.3 in 5 months. That's a lot for someone who has been fighting this Type 2 BS for almost 30 years. Next goal is to get it under 5.6 in another few months.
Keep up the good work! It's nice when your progress is quantified like that, quite the motivator.

The amount of sugar in just about everything is shocking... Recently I started bringing these little instant porridge pots to work for cycling in. Anything other than the plain original had about 10+ grams of sugar in it... 30grams of sugar per day is what our health service says... Then all the sauces, flavoured things, all plastered with it. I'm very conscious of trying to avoid getting diabetes but I can't imagine how difficult it would be trying to avoid sugar because you need to versus because you should :-S

Seconded. I think its best not to ask.... I think other things will get me before diabetes, but its a good remionder to think about what you eat as well as may way.

Eat what I think about LOL

Im not sure if this is smile or sweat. Ive been working in the greenhouse for a few hours. I have so many peppers, aubergines tomatos cucmbers and squashes Im over run. I just dont have the time to sort them all so quite a few have been stuffed into flower and shrub beds this morning. Hopefully they will produce something. Now another hours worth done and some visible progress. A nice problem to have. Off to buy more compost and soil. Mix 3 compost to 1 soil for better results.

I hauled the air con unit out and after a bit of reluctance its running wel. Thank heavens its needed when the sun powers it or we would have to do without. Planned trip to the coast is faltering as the night worker / night hawk / vampire is being VERY tardy. Postal nightb workers wear red shirts so you cant see the vampiring blood stains did you know.

No energy agin today I need my magnesium. Im now like a Panda if my battery electrolyte is not tip top all my warning signs and lights start flashing. Pandabird 4 is off to Manchester tomorrow so I must check him over.

Just sent the wife a whatsapp message to say thankyou for the coffee. Its just like being at work again. Dont speak, only email the person sitting next to you......

that’s pretty bloody good! I have a family member who is a type 1 and they started on one of these new weight loss drugs a few months back, the effect on the HBA1C has been profound. They have a pump and dexcom glucose monitor so near constant monitoring of their bloodsugar went from rarely in target to almost never out of range.

Thanks. t's been a struggle. I replaced Jardiance and Januvia with an injectable called Monjaro, also a weight loss drug. What that has done is control my appetite and render sweets unpalatable. I used to be able to eat a handful of Oreo's at a sitting, now I can barely tolerate one. There's a very popular Chicago themed restaurant out this way called Portillo's...great hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches. My fav is the two hot dog meal with fries and a small drink. I'd get one and Mrs.Cheest would get a burger. Now, we split the two dog meal.

I have to fast for 12 hours prior to the A1C test, and that was always tough. I fasted for 17 hours prior to this test and didn't think twice about it, though I made up for it yesterday after the test. I'm hoping that if I can get under 5.6 that I can reduce the other stuff I've been taking.

What a pain in the !!. I hope you get there.
