In my earlier life I too was very overweight and lost it all by dieting, after that i took to the gym and exercised a lot, so I was able to stay thin while not dieting much. Its just in the last 18 months i've gone heavy again, i've not dieted much, nor exercised. So to go back to all the effort of counting calories, checking portion sizes and avoiding sugary foods was going to be a lot of effort. So i thought why not give these jabs a try. To say i've been surprised is an understatement, its just no effort at all. Given how big the population has become in general I can see these drugs becoming as common as paracetamol. The drug was developed originally to treat diabetes, and I can imagine type 2 will start to become a thing of the past, maybe in a few generations anyhow.
My concern with all these "wonder drugs" what are the side effects.
My first wife was training as a nurse SRN in those days and she brought a book home which her mum read and then decided what ailments she had;)
I tend to to look up the "contraindications" list re a drug and it gives a more realistic detail then what is written on the packet!

I had a little nausea for a few days, nothing that bothered me, now not even that. The injection wasn't nice, but I mean who likes injections?! And its just once a week, that you do yourself at home.

I was over 15 stone late last year, then lost half a stone through regular dieting, now another half stone through the jabs.

One of the bad things about pllutting this weight on has been i've been unable to run much, because it hurts my knees, so I might be able to get jogging again before long.
Start with swimming.
No good for me, even when pretty fit I could barely swim a length of a pool as I tensed up, and yet I could be several miles out in the sea in a racing skiff made of 3/16ths varnished ply, no life jackets and no worries.:)

I'm more of a sinker than a swimmer lol. I was brought up by the sea, so i like seagulls and the beach and the sea, but not swimming in the sea.

I went home to see my mother recently and we went to the beach, there were a couple of young fairly overweight people who went for a dip in the icy Irish Sea, i watched on amusedly thinking thats not for me lol

Usually the morning sickness goes away after the first three months, but sorry the weight keeps getting more until full term.;););)

Swimming's been quite a "thing" in our family. My oldest boy was in the Scottish swimming squad when young and my daughter represented Scotland in international lifesaving competitions. My youngest boy couldn't even stand the feel of sand between his toes so took up running at school and was quite good at it. I'm not a strong swimmer but could do a couple of lengths of the pool if I had to and we go swimming with the grandchildren every week - We feel all children should learn to swim as, apart from being a healthy activity, it might save their lives one day. My Mrs puts us all to shame, she's an excellent swimmer and goes to the pool twice a week swimming around 80, YES 80! lengths on average each time. I go on my walks while she's swimming and at other times and I find that enjoyable and keeps me pretty fit. My daughter has taken up "wild water" swimming and both she and Mrs J go swimming off the beach at North Berwick whenever my daughter is up here - north Berwick is on the North Sea of course - Brrrrrrr! Mrs J went swimming in the sea inside the arctic circle when we went up there on a cruise - She was the talk of the ship and the only passenger who did! She's very independent minded and totally beyond my control!

Summer or Winter I was happy to go into the water as long as my feet were near the bottom, we used to launch the boats off the slipway in a Sweat shirt and shorts with the cold winter water up to your nuts. So didn't need a beer belly for things to disappear ;)

Impressive stuff that.

I taught my son to swim just so he'd be safer in water. But the odd ice bucket over my head in the summer is the closest i get to the arctic circle. I could probably swim a couple of lengths in the pool, but thats about it.

Aye, I like swimming in the pool but, if I'm going in the sea it needs to be the Med in late summer/autumn when it's warmed up!

Again, very much like me, as I said to both wives ‘if god wanted us to swim, he wouldn’t have invented boats’ not bad for an atheist

In the old days sailors and even now with some fisherman who go out miles to sea, they often cannot swim as the theory is there is no way they can stay afloat long enough to be rescued so better to drown quickly.:(

Never liked the idea of drowning, or, for that matter, being burned alive
Well how about being burried alive, crushed to death, killed by a massive fall or an anurism,,,
I cant say any of these has much appeal . Staying alive seems quite a good plan for now .......
