What's made you smile today?

I'm unsure if either of you can understand the perspective of people here beyond what you see on the news, so I wouldn't expect you to enter into a discussion about it.

Still, could be worse than Boris / Trump... could be Corbyn. Yuck. (y)

Edit: you can both message me privately to discuss any of your strong viewpoints and get rapid responses rather than hijacking these threads beyond the odd comment ;-) Welcome on my end, anyway!

I will bow out thank you.

But I'll leave you with this which I assume given your dislike of Gerry Adams is not good news?

This is what your boy is playing with..

Maybe they should hold a referendum, those work perfectly...

Peter Hitchens thinks referenda are the worst form of government because normal politics can never be cut down to a binary issue. I can see his point on that. Brexit (or in the 1970s Brentry) is probably one of the very few binary issues of our day.

The huge issue has been the duplicity of our government. We all knew the EU would make leaving difficult and we all knew the vote was only narrowly won by one side. The huge problem has been that UKs usual managerial government style was just not for for purpose and the over promoted supervisors we've actually had on the case have just created rifts across the country.

It's simply not possible to fudge a binary issue and to try that with something as imotive as Brexit was verging on criminal.

Bad nights sleep, took lots of pain killers, woke up to find I had been messaging people on Facebook market place in Italy about their classic Fiat 500 they had for sale, weirdly it seems that painkiller + poor sleep = better understanding of Italian than normal awake me, to the extent I had to google translate what I’d been saying.

Not the place for it.

(Although, I'm a bit grumpy, so maybe I'll go and post there... but our currency has taken a plunge, we're spending £100m on advertising to get business to sort out their customs processes, PSA have announced they're closing their only remaining UK factory, exports are going to crash - 40% import tax on UK lamb in its largest export markets - and it looks like 'the troubles' are escalating due to Boris not understanding anything about the island of Ireland.)

PSA will do what suits their own business. Nothing to do with Brexit. Also, a big company like PSA haven’t made any big public decisions since Boris this soon..

Car passed MOT with no work and no advisories or suggested work. Not bad for an 8 year old family bus with nearly 80k on it.

Did sit in the new 3 though...and it absolutely makes mine feel like something from the 90s. Interior is something else entirely, so despite the lack of practicality I may want one.

(Yes I'm ignoring the existence of Boris)

I know I said I was ignoring Boris but the more I watch, the more I suspect he's playing a blinder.

Worst case for conservative party, he followed Teresa May's policy. He's got no majority, the DUP can't be trusted to back him on no deal given they think it's going to reunite Ireland.

He can't do a Teresa May and call a snap election the Brexit Party will walk off with a good chunk of his vote and probably a Labour government or Lib/Lab coalition.

So what does he do? Knowing he's in a powerless position, take advantage of that. Announce a series of measures of policies that play right into the Brexit voting wheelhouse. It doesn't matter if they are insane or unworkable because what he needs is the Brexit vote support and a vote of no confidence.

This will then enable him to turn round and say "I'll deliver Brexit...but those meddling remainiacs are trying to stop me!" Hoover up the Brexit vote..Conservative majority at which point who knows what will actually happen

Pretty much the worst thing that can happen to him is he reaches October 31st in his current situation at that point the conservative party is done for generation.

Apparently, the party have said "Don't underestimate his commitment to the October 31st date", so seems like we're set to leave then. I know we've been told a date before and it passed... but given that, I reckon for them to state 'it's definitely happening' now, I mean, surely he's only putting himself under more pressure to deliver (thus increasing the chances it actually happens then).

It will be an interesting one.

Oh come on, this Brexit stuff offers too much good old' debate to resist :D

Given this is the what made you smile thread, you’re just trolling here, especially as there is a brexit thread which you could be posting in if you wanted (n)

It’s a valid reply to what the guy above said. And at the end, it’s a little joke shedding some light hearted ness on the whole thing. In other words, I replied and at the end make it clear I’m not trying to start some big debate. Just add to what he’s said. No trolling about it. We don’t need the humour police, or the pointing fingers police.. ?

Now ... what made you smile today? There must be something!

Weird you brought this up, you seem to loose all sense of humour if anyone criticises brexit but when it suits you, you’re just having a laugh..

How does that work exactly..... unless its trolling.

Seems like you’re trying to turn this into an argument.. hmm ?

I can’t stop anyone from criticising anything. I’m all for Brexit, but I’m not going to try and change anybody else’s mind who doesn’t agree.. it’s not my job.

I think you could stop analysing my every post and trying to pick flaws in it. You obviously disagree. That’s fine! But there’s nothing wrong with having a bit of a laugh. That’s where most of my other posts of a different recurring topic come from too. Doesn’t need to be taken so badly / personally / seriously. I’m sure you’ve got better things to do?

A friend of mine recently bought a brand new Corsa Griffin, and it's like they completely forgot to finish designing the interior in the back: the doorcards are solid plastic, no cloth trim at all; and the back seats don't split-fold!!
