Most annoyingly, repair crew "fixing" the road about 100 metres away yesterday.
Today water bubbling out of the ground, newly thrown tarmac chippings floating away.

Yup, pretty unpleasant here too. Pretty wet, although nothing like what I'm seeing on the TV as to what it's like further north over the other side of the Forth. Weather forecast on the telly right now saying there's more to come tonight and into Saturday though.
Winds are high enough I'm worrying about my fence. Mrs J's meds are low so I walked to the pharmacy about an hour ago to collect supplies . It was just spitting rain but the wind was strong enough I was staying well away from the kerbside in case I got blown into the road.

This is the only road in and out of our part of the estate. From the notice it looks like they're doing it in the one day ("clacky" manhole cover to be replaced) so I hope they don't make a "horlicks" of it and keep the road closed for any longer.

The rain around here has been strangely regional. Bits of Swindon are suffering large puddles (not really a flood), and other areas are dry, only having light drizzle. Coming home there was one road that was very wet, with water running down both sides of the hill, but only a coupleof miles on, all dry.
Goiing down the 'wet' hill, I was a little slower than usual, about 40-45, in the 50 limit, much to the annoyance of the following Citroen C1. Like many hills, it gets short sections where the water runs across the road, usually on the approach to bends, not a good place to lose grip. As we neared the bottom, I'm slowing a little more, and expecting a puddle. One oncoming car was in the middle, so I slowed early, further aggravating the impatient Ciroen behind, as he's only focusing on me, not ahead. Then as the oncoming car exited the flood, I moved to the centre to roll through gently. Citroen remained well left, which is the deepest point. He did get through, but stopped almost immediately,creating a good hazard at the bend apex. Oops!

Had flu and covid jabs yesterday afternoon. Both arms now sore, feeling heavy and stiff. Being a real wimp and feeling sorry for myself.
Had both mine on Thursday, always get a cold after flu jab but, so far, not had a single fault with Covid jab
We had ours about a fortnight ago. Mrs J, as usual, had no reaction.
Flue in my right arm didn't hurt at all and produced a wee raised inflamed area about 24 hours later and gave me my usual slight headache and shivers. The covid in my left arm has previously been no bother but this time the actual injection was painful - "stung" worse than a wasp! The nurse doing the job apologized and said he'd probably hit a blood vessel directly. He said occasionally it happens? It was really sore but faded away within the hour.
Everyone I know has been able to get both at the same time except me, so far no side effects.

Gleasgas wet and windie like usual, actually it's not as windie as usual. Not long until it starts to pour again though. Hot summers are usual here up North.

Nutty about Pandas Infected by Panda virus and OPD
Pretty wet here in Norfolk. Certainly the wettest in the last 35 years. I had to get to a chemist and there must have been half a mile of road under 6 inches plus of water and a couple of places a foot deep at least. Daughter took 3 hours to do the 15 miles back from work this morning. Dog was almost swimming on his walk this afternoon and disappeared when he though the the ditch was just a bit more flooded road. SO much for his waterproof rain mac. Our normal path was so deep it was unwalkable and its on level land. Fortunatley my recent celarring teh the drainage grip in the bank opposite meant no flooding out front. Two cars abandoned at the far end of the village and a big volvo spotted waist deep coming up a side lane there. Panda performed flawlessly in the swamp that has a road under it somewhere. Just a shame my new Dunlop wellingtoms on their second outing leak. These things are nearly as good as their tyres I have two pairs both very recent and both have failed to provide value for money. Theu aint cheap either.. Note to self no more Dunlop - ever. Just put the dog out for his last of the day and its not raining, and all the floods in the garden are gone. I knew it was dry but this is still amazing.
I think Dunlop haven't been DUNLOP for some time now. - just a brand name. I've read various claims that they are now part of the Sumitomo empire but also that they are made, for the American market, by Goodyear. So who knows? Think they also have a facility somewhere in India? Probably best thought of as a "budget" brand.
We seem to have a new spring!
I think many are "budget brands" these days apart from their price, especially if you look at the small print on the sidewall as to country of origin.
Have you checked your water meter!!! A friend of mine with a small holding in Cornwall had to dispute a large bill owing to the route the supply took over neighbouring land.

we have different layers of Yorkshire sandstone and deeper limestone strata. Wehn the borehole was drilled the drill rig staters hitting rock at less than a meter, broke at 38m, that’s wehn they reckoned it hit harder rock. They hit consistent water at 49 but it didn’t clear till 57 and then they have to drill a further depth to ensure clear so 58/59. The strata is kind of shelved and, lower down, it bends down over 70 degrees.Interestingly, they not only electronically/electromagnetically surveyed, before drilling, but also water deveined!

My friend in Cornwall has a borehole also and it is mostly granite around there so it had to be tested for Radon gas and he has filtration etc.
Yes, we didn’t need a Radon, thank goodness, but since having holiday cabins and moorings, we’ve had to put filtration on, despite our testing (annually) being clear as it’s no longer ‘domestic’. You could sell our mineral water!
