Thanks folks!
Got there; they all seemed very nice and smiley, got a few laughs too, so fingers crossed for hearing back!

Mum is part exchanging her punto for a rover 25 as the rover has more doors and a lower mileage and would be better for her.

She knows there are 5 door ones but there aren't any in our price range (£500) near us
She has test drove the rover and it is a lot better than I thought it would be
Its also got a new mot with no advisories
Hmmm, I wouldn't do that, a mk2 Punto is far safer than a rover 25, plus I'd imagine it would be cheaper to run.
How have you figured that one out? The Rover 25 is a 3* rated N Cap and a MK2 Punto is 2* N Cap.
That would tell me the Rover is safer. And I would guarantee the Rover is also better built, better to drive and more reliable than a MK2 Punto.

The mk1 Punto scored a 2* NCAP rating, the mk2 Punto scored a 4* NCAP rating, and the Grande Punto scored 5*. I had originally wanted a mk1 Punto for my 1st car, but when I saw the NCAP result, I swiftly changed my mind! I also considered a Seicento, but after seeing the 1.5* rating, I lost my liking for them!
Underneath the 25 though is a lot of Honda engineering.
Yeah.... Honda engineering from the 80s rover basically carried bits from one model to the next never really making a new car but updating a look and bolting on bits that fitted.
By the time they went bust the whole thing had been bastardised so much there was very little Honda and a lot of British Leyland bodges. It was as much a Honda as it was a mini metro
I though the late 90s 200/25 was a pure Rover though, as was the 75?
i thought the last pure rover was the P6

Platforms were carry overs from the Civic/Concerto days.
