My issue with most new phones is that they are too big. No-one pockets them any more, as they don't fit, so have to be carried all the time, creating one-handed zombies. Small ones are difficult to find.
I do very little on my phone, using it for calls and texts, and rarely anything else.
The first computers had 9-10" screens, growing slowly to 13". Anyone with a 15" screen was probably a senior manager, or someone in IT. Then with flat screens, big ones got cheaper, and everyone wanted the largest they could have.
Then, quite quickly, we all are supposed to forego that, and do everything on a tiny screen. Even the largest phones are tiny compared to early computers. I shall be a stubborn mule, and remain on a proper computer for this forum, and similar, and all my banking. (Still using a 17" CRT screen. Its not broken, so will remain until it is, although it has flickered a few times lately, so perhaps soon.) I have two flat screens under the desk waiting.

Same here...just mind the black ice 🤣
It's the green ice and yellow snow you have to watch.;)
Sorry no fairy on my Christmas tree and I haven't even bothered with lights.:)
Planted it after Christmas over 20 years ago and going strong.

Car seat for new one has arrived.

I will forever remain amazed at the inverse relationship between the size of the person and the amount of **** needed.
After my brother had his first kid he went from small bmw to Volvo estate, after his second, he went for a merc estate…the all singing and dancing mamas and papas pushchair, that converted to a car seat and rocker, was worth more than the Punto Sporting I had at the time

M and P are ridiculously priced...

The seat that's arrived on loan thank the lord would be about 400 quid to buy with the stuff to make it work and actually fit in the car.

Like all the best expensive baby gear...it doesn't even last 18 months from birth so thankfully friend of my wife had it in the loft. Which unfortunately means I've been keeping our entirely serviceable one in the loft for no bloody reason for 5 years.

Apparently this one is better because it spins...

Like you our push chair system is up in the attic, was £1000 all in paid for by grand parents and still didn’t have the luxury of spinning round.

Same as us..of course the loan seat is not compatible with our travel system.. because why would it be?

Some uncharitable people might say the thing I'm looking forward to as smallest one grows up is donating stuff as they finish with it rather than keeping it for next one...

Some say you don't hear from the ones that didn't 😉
I remember the four of us brothers being crammed on the backseat of my dads A40, then the characterless viva, then the luxury of his 1600 131 ‘special’, the ‘bright green pleasure machine’…and no, apart from the colour, I don’t know why it was called pleasure machine, but having four kids in five years kinda indicates something 😉

Current parents of young ones probably get tired of hearing how we Boomers survived childhood without the aid of car seats.
The boomers survived, it’s the kids who are now our age who took a short flight through the windscreen if anything went wrong.

To be fair flying through the windscreen was probably the safer option as cars of that era would crumple like a paper bag.

These days cars move much faster, are heavier and babies have not evolved to be crash resistant in line with the progress of cars.

Oh deeers, its clear you need to eat more and then you could buy a bigger coat with bigger pockets, also if you put on several stone the HUGE phones we are able to endure...m sorry enjoy would be a smaller percentage of you new weihght and size so you wouldnt notice.

Basically I couldnt agree more. OK I cant see things on the small screens any more, but I also cant carry a humongous phone around. I think its yet another example of more being a LOT LESS. Or an excuse for gluttony. Ive lost so much weight recently I really dont want to have to try and put it back just to enable me to wear huge trousers with giant pockets Its easier to carry a torch, a phone, a laptop and a digital camera than some of these B stupid great things.

My phone is clearly notworking as well as it did, and now plus net have removed our phone line I am reliant on it. Perhaps I shpould go ask one of these phone advisors if they have a huge moblie phone that I con push around in a wheel barrow for convenience.

Rant over. PB, you set me orf!

Probably Isofix etc. It makes life easier as my youngest daughter has found , but as you say they soon out grow them so the bills keep coming in.
It makes me wonder how I managed to provide for five with just my wage, especially when they bring out the costs that it takes for one child till 18 etc. Mine are still costing me now and all over 30! Still wouldn't throw them back , only the mother.;)

I suppose that is life. Its expensive just being alive. Just take water. Earn money, pay tax, but if you want to drink, you pay for water, and pay tax on that too Water is expensive. Lets face it much of life is one big rip off.
