When my family was young we used to go through a 56lb bag of spuds every week, which was one reason why I was on good terms with that farmer.
Years earlier the other farmer whom I knew as a youngster used to bring sack of spuds to the garage and sell for 50p per bag without his dad knowing, to pay for his night out where I would see him in the local night clubs.
Sadly due to fuel prices, that is true of a lot of cars now

Filled the Panda yesterday. Just under £50. Guy opposite, filling his Range Rover looked across as I finished. He'd heard the click of the nozzle shutting off, and was drawn to it, as I'd arrived after he'd started filling. He was still going. His eyes widened as he saw how little I was spending.
Even the Doblo doesn't cost much to fill, but that's a bluff, as the tank is smaller for the dropped floor. Have to fill it up more frequently. Can be a pain on longer journeys, but most of these vehicles are used locally.

And fit for about 80 miles I suspect. pandas onatop!
As a youngster my worst fuel economy was a 1967 Ford Zephyr V6 that I tended to drive flat out everywhere and averaged 12 Mpg, I once doubled it driving to London still near the legal limit.
The only good thing was four star petrol was 35 pence for 4.54 litres (gallon) when it rose to 65 pence I had a job selling it.
It’s slightly better than our old Range Rover Vogue, which would only manage 4-12mpg. The Cherokee manages 8-22mpg, on average, only 12-18!

Kinnell! I curse Noops 39-60 as being awful after my Bravo that averaged 64 over 100K and managed 86 with a small amount fo care. You must be related to Sheik-a ya-marney

You mean of course 4.54609! Dont short change yourself. I did get my company Focus 1.6 D down to 7mpg once. Iwas helping my big boss litter picking Thetford by pass to help him impress new potential clients. The Focus was left with an amber beacon running 21w plus the spinner mortor, for 2 hours and would not start at the end of a very wet afternoon. It was supposed to have been anew car with a large capacity battery! When it did finally go after the AA had started it I took my vengeance out on it. In fairness it did around 58 in sensible use. Sadly gone are the days where you could average 100mph on a long run. I did 3 runs over the years. ALways used to leave here in the small hours when heading for the Fery in Dover and allowed travel time at an average of 70. That was a fairly easy. I now somewhat more sensibly try and get an average mpg of 100. I have not been able to get a confirmed 100mpg over 100 miles but believe the Bravo198 did manage this once, I failed to look at the right moment and then spoiled it with a burst of speed so the best remains 86mpg over 346 miles. I dont think the Twinair could manage it even if I promised him a lady twinair as a reward. Sadly we are both in the same boat! Over promising and under delivering. I do find that now I have stopped bad driving, its more satisfying driving well and getting good economy. More beer please, -even thats not as good as it used to be. I wish! It’s going soon anyway as I’ve put a towbar on the wife’s Renegade, and that regularly gets in the 40’s plus
I did once average 18 Mpg on a run to a vehicle training course on Mazdas, I was in a Lada 1200 (Fiat 124?) pedal to the metal as they say. The long dead instructor was handing out blank petrol station receipts so you could "claim" extra money from your boss, being honest I wouldn't have done it anyway
, however explaining the poor economy as it was, had been bad enough to a boss who could get over 40mpg from a three cylinder two stroke Wartburg with a slipping clutch.

He sounds like me talking to my daughters. I bet he didnt really do that well. The daughters however make ME feel guilty while they are , emptyimg poor wallet who incidentally has lost so much weight he now looks quite ill. P.S. It hopefully is cheaper there.
Put nearly 60 quid in the C3 other day...though partially self inflicted as it's on an E5 diet.
For that I can at least expect 400 miles or would be able to do if my wife ever acknowledged the existence of gears above 3rd or throttle positions below "fire everything" however we're off next week so expect economy to mysteriously improve by 5mpg.

When I was at college, we had a gerbox form a Fiat 500 (the classic one), that had melted 2nd gear. One owner, low mileage.
The handbook had listed the 'maximum speed in each gear', 2nd being a little over 30mph apparently. As the lady never drove above 30, she never used anything other than 1st and 2nd.
