In other news, the former head of our flagship factory in Italy has been called out of retirement to try and fix this cluster. We are where that place was at when he took that one over. He's supposed to be there tomorrow, too. My plan is to take him out to dinner Tuesday and unload. If he doesn't like hearing about the behind the scenes things happening, Tuesday night can be my last night of employment.

If they've dragged him out of retirement, you would assume he knows things are bad. Given he's been tasked with fixing it he'd probably appreciate an assessment of the current issues.

You'd think he'll know he's not back for a lap of honour...

SCAM ADVERTS APPEARING ON THE FORUM SITE.

Voltex. This ad DISGUSTS ME intensely. Its CRAP and I am sick to the back teeth of seeing its utterly nonsense claims and complaining about it and being told there is nothing that can be done as its part of an ad package deal.. As with all the other sites that perpetrate this. I'm off.

ben?
The Panda Nut Can you give more details? Where are these adverts appearing?

I understood the adverts at the bottom of the page were generated using your browsing history, certainly the ones I see are often vaguely connected, although only vaguely. It might need you to clear cookies or cache or something.

I figure he's going to have a stroke when he walks into that shop area.

I'm afraid not, circumstances conspired. Youngest grandchild was unwell and the two older ones were invited to an organized display. Then we heard an old friend from work had died. Somehow I just lost the enthusiasm for it all! Always next year though, providing they haven't spontaneously combusted and burned the shed down!

Thanks for asking, If we get round to it next year I'll try to remember to post.

My sympathies to you Jock.

Thanks for that Jack. He was one of the gentle giants of this world. A big bear of a man who was happiest when walking all over the Scottish countryside - I know he'd done all the Munros just for starters! At work he was always someone you could rely on and his was the voice of reason when management were making "silly" proposals. He'd been in poor health for a number of years but nothing life threatening. Then, very suddenly, he was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer and given just weeks to live. He elected to return home where he died. I was actually at his funeral today, a well conducted funeral but ever so sad to know he's gone. Definitely one of the "good guys"!

Do you have a screenshot? I get a totally different view to you guys as I'm in Taiwan...

Been involved in a dragged out argument with a different department.

Stems from me needing to supply them with something...but the crux of the argument is why do I need to re-produce figures you produced to then send back to you? Use the stuff you've already got and I'll just work on the new stuff.

Challenged multiple times...never got a good answer. Jokingly said to a colleague..."bet you the person who designed this process left and they don't know why they ask for it.."

That is actually the case...

To be fair you can always tell when you're talking to someone who has learned a step by step process...and someone who understands what that process actually bloody does. They end up fixating on details that make square root of jack all difference because they don't know which ones are important.

"The room is on fire"..."that's OK if the wall paper is green..."

Send them last month's figures instead of this month. See if anyone notices. Have the correct ones ready, in case anyone does, with an apology for the mix up.
(Done that loads of times in the past, to test whether managers and directors actually look at figures, or just demand a report to make themselves important. Never been caught out.))

Unfortunately it's a data source for something I use...otherwise it would have been 6 feet deep ages ago.

Everytime this comes around it ends up with a circular conversation. Where I'm asking what each part of the information they've asked for is required for...they insist on me supplying exactly per their request it without addressing the first question. Far be it from me to suggest they don't know why it needs to be like that so are just blindly insisting lest it falls over and they have no clue how to fix it if does..

Bought a very small tool off eBay. Being small, I expected it to arrive in a jiffy bag, so no issues with dropping through the letterbox.
Late yesterday evening, checked emails, to be informed that the package had been 'delivered'. Surprise!
My front porch sticks out from the house a little. On the side is the box over the gas meter. A box, about 250 x 200 x 100mm was sat on top of this, in full view of passers-by, but invisible to me from car to front door, especially arriving home after dark. Lucky it was still there, and that it had not yet rained.
Well done Royal Mail, since covid, they have taken to abandoning parcels with little thought to security, and don't post a card to say where they've put it. My neighbour has 'lost' two important parcels this way.
Advised seller of poor delivery. Instead of noting the concern, and considering complaining to Royal Mail, he instead sends a rude reply to me. Let's not address the issue, shoot the messenger. Perhaps when he loses a delivery, he'll pay attention.

FULL of the Public..?
Or
EMPTY of Staff..??

oh 25 car parking places for when i was aloud to park at least 20 cars were in front of village hall all staff when i was aloud in at least another 20 cars were in the road behind me now thats progress ????

At least you know that in 2 weeks you are better parking in a sidestreet and just getting your bodies into the building..

Weve been really fortunate here in the 'Welsh Highlands'..

The building they have used is adjacent to the towns 'terminus' railway station..
So plenty of empty parking spaces( on a Sunday)
I suspect mine wont happen until 2022.

So I'm popping along the Oxford Eastern by-pass, 50 limit, doing 50, all on my own. Then from the crowd behind came one clown, significantly faster than the group, flies past me, brakes hard, cuts across to head for the Cowley exit. I had to lift off to avoid pitting him, he was that close. As he hit the slip road, he threw a stone. Made quite a smack.

Couldn't see where it hit. A mile or so later, parked the car, left it 4 hours, came back, nice little L-shaped crack at the bottom. So that'll be a new screen to be sorted then. See what clowns the insurance company want to use.
At least its the Fabia, not the Panda.

Firstly people who dawdle along..and then take it as a personal challenge if you pull out into the large gap in front of them that they've created by travelling at well below the posted limit. If you need to accelerate hard to to tail gate the person in front of you and flash your lights...the gap they pulled into was more than big enough.

Second not so much grumpy...but got in the car climate control set to 27 degrees..fan speed set to 2. Every year there's conversation that goes along the lines of...if 23 is a comfortable temperature leave it there. As long as internal temperature is lower than that the heater will be used to reach it. If you set it to 27...it'll just be uncomfortably hot once it gets there...also setting the fan to manual means it'll just keep blowing regardless of if it's needed. Also regardless of what you set the thing to it won't warm up any faster...if anything probably slower as max temp and fan speed will be stopping the coolant from heating up, something climate control usually manages by waiting until there's some heat before turning up the heater.

Not that it has enough time to heat through in her commute anyway rendering messing with it pointless..

The 'thermostat' issue seems to be a common thing with many people, choosing to turn it up, then down, frequently, instead of setting it and letting it do its job.
A lovely story from years ago.
My partner's mum was always a thermostat 'adjuster', winding up the central heating on cold days, then down again once the house was too hot. Then some time later, it seemed to have less effect, but was still adjusted frequently. Only many years later, after her husband had died, and a plumber was doing some maintenance, did he find that the internals had been disconnected from the outer dial. Wonderful placebo effect.
