Unfortunately car mechanics is one of those area's where lots of the general public adopt the "ignorance is bliss" approach. The mechanics AND the garages know this which means there's only a small number of decent honest mechanics / garages out there now :(.

It USED to be like this in IT back when you could actually make A LOT of money in this field. Now thanks to Google, people being generally more IT savvy and "IT Technicians" with these throw away wipe your ass on qualifications mean you can no longer do so.

I've just found out when replacing my drivers side anti-roll bar drop link that the passenger side one (that a Evans Halshaw Vauxhall main dealer replaced) was done incorrectly. You are meant to put the nut on lock the shaft from the ball joint in a socket & ratchet and use a spanner to tighten the nut (so the rubber boot doesn't twist and rip). They quite clearly used a wizzy gun and ripped the boots to shreds...

Failed the papershift stage for the Police :(.

Got six months to wait until I can apply again. Onwards and upwards though! Applying for a job within the control room, hopefully help next time if I get it.

Is that anything like the psychometric tests they do for the Forces?

Ahh...fair enough

I've often wondered how something as simple as an application can generate so much bloody paperwork!!

When I applied to the RFA I must have filled in 3 different sets of application forms before they even considered me for interview! Then there was another 2 sets before attending the Admiralty Interview Board and yet another set after passing that (prior to starting at BRNC)

Fingers crossed for next time!!

It wasn't too bad, just under 4,000 people registered to take the tests. After the two just over 800 handed in an application form. Around 313 people have been invited for interviews etc.

Good way of getting rid of anyone not good enough and just limiting application forms (which they've done in the past).
