I stand corrected and that rule has obviously changed since I last read the highway code (I wish they would publicise stuff like that).

Doesn't change my original point about d**ks using them in all conditions - and doesn't alter the fact that they blind in rain.... and visibility below 100m is some pretty serious heavy rain, the sort we hardly ever see in this country.

Ever been to wales - the lakes - scotland?

Very often get rain with less than 100m visability.

Although I do agree too many people use fog's when it isn't needed

my other grump - new main light switch from main dealer £80 then the guy said oh there's a cheaper part £40 I said no way for a poxy little switch I'd buy sone stuff from maplin and make a relay harness. The guy then says oh wait I can get you one for £25, but gotta wait till tuesday.

Why can't they just have one price

Badly adjusted fogs blind in any conditions Correctly adjusted fogs have a liniar cut off so the light doesn't shine upwards....

TBH i learnt something from Josh's post it used to be that you could only use your Rear Fog light/s in FOG now by the looks of the new HWC you can use them in any bad weather (when visibility is seriously reduced)

they reflect up off the water
rears on in rain is worse, kills the eyes of them behind and makes it harder to see your brake lights

so do headlamps especially HID, and any other lights

I assume the more modern car designs with a totally separate and low rear fog light to reduce that but it used to be a No no to use your rear fog in rain anyhow

My pet hate is those that Stand on the brakes when at a junction rather than pulling the handbrake on especially with the high level brake light been right at eye level :bang:

rest of us can see fine in heavy rain with out fogs, if you cant then buy new wipers and stop blinding the rest of us:(

Speak for yourself, my wiper blades are fine ta ;)

Indeed - they are FOG LIGHTS.
Turn the damn things off unless it's foggy.
Rears you can use in any poor visibility/heavy spray - it is illegal and very dangerous to use fronts in the same conditions.

If you use yours in rain, think yourself lucky the camera's patrol the roads these days and not the Police - cos they're too busy doing paperwork

What a load of crap.

So you don't do what your suppost to and read updated highway code when it comes out and your trying to give driving advise

How the feck do they do that? They don't do it any more than dipped beam lamps ;)

Rear on in rain are needed when very heavy spray, just when tits forget to turn them off (driving without due care and attention!)

so do headlamps especially HID, and any other lights

New Mini brakelights are the worst!

Yes, i just had that on the way home from Karting, 0 visibility and every tom dick and harry with fogs on, so 0 visibilty and just a red light windscreen. :bang:

meh im on 8 cans of k and just tipsy lol. although got dani, si and jenny moaning at me:eek:

I'm on my 3 can of Carling and I'm ok so far. :)

Although last Sat night, I had 4 bottles of Bud and 2 hours of crying really made me drunk lol. That and air makes you more drunk for some reason. No wonder pubs are losing out with the smoking ban, everyone goes outside, gets hit by the wind and goes home cos they feel drunk as! :p

just to add to the rain foglights, it's not neccessarily the heavy rain, remember when i had Really heavy rain, couldn't see out the windscreen as wipers weren't going fast enough  luckily it was only temporary, but it was still quite a bright day so visibility was still good.

but one other time coming back from uni on the motorway it was very dark despite being lunchtime, and the rain reduced visibility almost completely to comparable thick fog conditions, wasn't spray off other cars either. all i could see was dull glow of the car in fronts fog light, and occasionally the lights from the car behind!!! driving in those conditions without fog lights would of been VERY dangerous, but as soon as the motorway came down the hill and cleared a bit, the fogs went straight off.

It's not made me grumpy, more upset but I had to have my dog put to sleep today. :( He was 15 though so had a good innings.
