General What Tyres?

They do compromise though! Anything that is made to deal with a wide range of conditions is always going to have to compromise on ultimate performance in the snow or in the summer.

If they want good performance in the summer then they'll need a harder compound than would be ideal for winter driving. The Michelin website even tells you to buy Alpin's rather than Cross Countrys if you do a lot of winter driving.

If you are going to only have one set of tyres then cross countrys are a very good choice, but two sets of tyres is always better.

I used Continental ts850 the last two winters and if the Uni royals are as good then i would choose them excellent tyres especially in the rain ,ice and snow .
