Hi,im looking at getting a punto as my first car,ive seen a 1.2 8v punto van 2002 with 100k on the clock.I can get it insured for £740 and is one of the cheapest quotes ive had.

Basically i want to know what to look for,ive read a bit about power steering and heaters,is there anything else that could tell me weather the cars been looked after well?is there any parts that would need changing soon due to milage.

Thanks.

Rust.

I couldn't be more sensitive to the subject at the moment, but rust.

Check out the underseal *very* carefully, particularly at the back floor pans.

Check out the inner skin of the back wheel arches.

Read my thread from earlier today "Carpet removal"

Rot, corrosion, call it what you want, but rust.

Couldn't agree more. I wish i knew sooner about the rust problems, first i knew was when it failed MOT on rear floors and sills :( searched it, and yep very common! Dont know how i'd not read anything on it before!
