Who knows? But such stuff isn't uncommon in cars with stiff suspension: some of the Pugs and Citroens do it, Integrales do it, GTI mk1 and 2 do it, I think Scoobies and Pulsars do it, too.

yep the type of cars that typically have seen the wrong side of a hedge of two in there time;)

just suggesting it may be a contibuting factor to this as it is also a known issue.

after all if it was just stiff suspension that was the cause this surely would have surfaced well before now

Well, there's stiff and stiff. Those Spaxs are really stiff. And it looks like someone has been at the bump stops, too..........

or fit cages:p

Nah. Why spend £350 odd quid on a cage when £150 quid of carbon can do the same job and weigh less than a quarter?

And then, I can still do trackdays and even hillclimbs without a cage.

Cages are fine, but they seriously limit the practicality of any car and make harnesses essential. Were I doing one, I'd do my own, with pick ups where I wanted them, but it's a big job.

I'll weld up the crack (someone has gorillared the captive nuts for the seat runners and made an utterly incompetent repair, so I need to light up the torch, anyway) and use the same kind of stiffening I'm going to use on Blue.
