General What is this !!!!!!

Hi all, driving along today and something fell on to my driving foot, pulled over and found a spring approx 10cms long with a white plastic bit (broken) on the end. Where has this come from ??? After initially panicking I realised that everything in the foot pedal area is working as it should, and brakes clutch ect are working ok. ??? Car is driving ok, its a diesel 115 jtd 51 reg. Thanks all

Just had a look up around my above-pedal area, as far as I can see there's no spring like that.
My guess would be it's from a heater flap maybe?
It looks like quite a light duty item.

Hi, thanks for checking, its quite a strong spring about 2 1/2cm wide. I hate not knowing where its dropped from, maybe someone has replaced it in the past and that's the old one left up inside the footwell? I've heard of people replacing the clutch cylinder spring from inside the bulkhead, could it be the old one ?

Possibly, but it looks in quite good condition to me.
I suppose it's possible that it's not from the car at all?

Edit; By the way, what shape is the inside of the plastic cup, spherical, or just a 'cup' shape?

Its a cup shape, but has broken edges, its obviously a fixed plastic fitment of some sort that the spring sits on to, I may never know, thanks again bikedoc for your replies
