Are the ones they sell now not made by Sagem then?

No they are not shop4 sell the Marelli ones and I think Fiat sell the Champion ones the Fiat ones are more expensive but T14 recones they will last longer I cant confirm that mind you I have the Marelli coils and have had no problems with them but they are a little more fiddly to fit that the Sagem as the shape of the rubber body is slightly different and you have to give them a good push to get them on (y)

Matt I have the old Sagem coils sitting in my glove box as spares [in case I should get a duff one ] how can I get one to you before Sat ? any Ideas

Phils right Matt really wouldn't drive it!! :D

If the local dealers not got one i can probably send a driver down that way with one...

sorry Phil..:D Not trying to steal your thunder mate...

Steal away just help him out and get him back on the road (y) but I would recomend he fits 4 though [sorry Matt ]:bang:

Well if they havn't got any then you have only two options as far as I can see the first one is get one sent up by driver from 55 stilo schuey or you order from shop4 and hope that you get the delivery early Saturday morning in time for Donny the decision is your and yours alone buddy in this situation if you really have to go to Donny then 55 has the answer :)

On an Abarth does the "EOBD engine warning failure" show up when there is a problem with the coil pack?

I'm getting this after a flat spot splutter while heavy accelerating around 2500-3500 revs?

Or would it more likely be an air induction sensor maybe?

The original post was "what is the coil pack". I'm still wondering, what is the coil pack, and what does it do? Are there coil packs for each plug? I'm still used to the Uno, where there was a coil, a HT lead, distributor, 4 HT leads, and then tamtamtaaa 4 spark plugs. So, what is a coil pack?

I always ask, instead of pretending any knowledge...

:D

Yes there is one coil to each plug and these replace the conventional coil/HT leads set up (y)

Yep - that is exactly what happened to me - twice!.However... I had the fault for a while before it got bad enough to raise an engine failure warning, symptoms are kangarooing, poor throttle response when cold running rough when cold and what feels like an occasional misfire. Problem is that until you get a failure warning examiner will not help you identify the problem....
I found that high octane fuel helped hide the symptoms.
Had another one go yesterday, took it to Avanti (fiat specialist - not a dealer!) who have examiner. Examiner shows 3 faults on a certain cylinder (can't remeber what) that are down to a coil failure.... It doesn't actually say the coil has failed but any tech worth his salt should recognise it.

BTW Abarth coils are more expensive than the others - I was quoted £48 each from my local dealer (who do NOT keep any in stock!) Avanti fitted one for me yesterday for £67 (includes diagnosis and fitting and VAT!) and are ordering 3 more for me to fit myself quite a bit cheaper than the dealers prices. That will be all 5 changed so I can rest easy at night!

You didnt say where you got them from did you did 55 supply and deliver ?

Been to my local motor factors today, to get a full set of coils for the abarth. They made several phonecalls to all the major suppliers, and none of them had a record of them? Called in to Fiat on monday in somerset, and they quoted me £38 +vat, special delivery only? Anywhere else cheaper than Fiat or shop4parts where I can get a full set?
Help MUCH appreciated(y)
Then again just looked on shop4parts, and cant see them for the abarth??

Yeah, suppose, but I want to replace all 5 of them. (dont know which one is going)

£220 for 5 coil packs:cry:
