Hey good luck Craig!
Thanks to Vernon, I'm now the proud(ish)

owner of the '...but be quick' 4x4 that I need to get to a rolling road and MOT before snow goes

Had the front pipe done but one of the manifold bolts sheared

(though it ain't blowing held with the remaining 2 studs so it should be okay)
The guy I bought it off positioned it behind the van as I set up the A frame, so I didn't realise just how bad the brakes were till I got home later that night on New Years Day (just managed to stop on the handbrake before running into the back of the camper when parking up

!!) Next morning found no fluid in reservoir at all... but not been able to find a leak

... brakes bled and topped up now (bloody cold working on the drive for the past couple of days an' all!) but still not over-confident that they are going to be okay on MOT. Failures were minor though:
1. offside headlamp aim too far to the right.
2. Nearside headlamp not in good working order adversely affecting beam image. (bulb incorrectly fitted - the testing station quoted over £150 for a new h/lamp and fitting!!!)
3. offside front direction indicator insecure. (superglued with Q-Bond back onto h/lamp)
4. front (pipe) Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases. (had rusted through)
5. offside front tyre tread dept below requirements of. (fitted spare - okay)
6. Front brake application uneven.
7. Front brakes imbalanced.
6&7 may have been down to low fluid level - but where it went is not yet clear... rear wheel cylinders are fine and I haven't found any leaks or signs of fluid round the calipers
Good news is she looks okay underneath though she has had some plating (doh) to rear inner sill and a N/S wing sometime in the last maybe 5 yrs by the looks of it (same as the CLX) - that seam will need attention.
But the 4x4 works okay and she's running good... though the FSH is a bit lacking (I like receipts - job lot...)
oh, and the N/S rear plastic trim is cracked and lost it's 4x4 badge

cheers Vernon!
