Well im not so sure it is the release bearing.. its only noisey when cold on initial start up and then it seems to go, there is some noise when you depress the clutch but its nothing bad.
Wondering if it could be the alternator bearing ??
Will let it develop and see how it goes.

Anyone here know about longer wheel bolts when fitted Cinq alloy rims ?
Why are the standard bolts not long enough?

Thanks
Paul
'cos the wheels are thicker;), also the seats are deeper because the alloy is softer than the steel so alloy bolts have a larger tapered section at the head.
you think you've got noise you should hear my gearbox. clatters like a washing machine full of rocks when you lift the clutch in neutral. Been like that for the last, ooh, 100000 miles or so I reckon. It's all character:D
enjoying the Tacchini luxury then?:)
Andrew.

Hey yes really enjoying the Tacchini.. its quiet after initial start up, defo sounds like a worn bearing of some sorts but wont worry about it too much.
OK so i need to get alloy specific bolts, any idea what length i need ?

just posted on your thread. Will measure up later for you, although it might be worth checking with one of the guys with cinq alloys as mine are quite a bit older so could be thicker.
Andrew.

Well I washed the Blue CLX on Saturday, then had to wash it again today!
I had to visit some friends who live in the middle of some woodland, and the only way to get to them is half a mile down a muddy, potholed track. Now at the start of the track is a tiny bridge over a brook, but because of all the rain the brook had flooded the track, so for about fifty yards I had to drive through two feet of water . Now this is my prised CLX that I'm trying to preserve! Last month my Daughter borrows it and now I've got it back I'm treating it like a Landrover, not the plan, not the plan at all!!!

About halfway there I met a real Landrover coming the other way, he seemed quite surprised to see me, obviously hasn't heard of the Pandas abilities. I made sure he was the one who had to pull off the track the most to pass though, I wasn't going to push my luck too far :p.

Sounds like what I drive through every day, I gave up trying to keep mine clean after about a week:p

What are peoples views on chequered roofs?

That was my other plan for Charmania!!! There is a nasty mark left on the roof from a CB aerial, a chequered roof was going to be my solution if I didn't use the Alfa wheels and paint bottom half dark red.

So, obviously, I'm in favour (y). If you go for it though I'll resort to plan A so that we don't look like twins :D.

I'll be going to a body shop some time for a quot of welding in the new metal and filling and sading and perhaps paint. looking at something around the 100-150 i hope.

local companies by work that do vinyl graphics so they can sort that side of it.

then i'tll be trying to source a new headlining that might be difficut.

yeah i like them , need to work out size of each square and how they'll fit on the roof. dont want them to small cause it will look crowded but to big will look empty.

I was going to go for 21cm squares. The area to cover is about 145cm x 95cm so you would have 7 squares by 5 more or less. The two outside rows that run beside the seam trim won't quite be full squares but that won't matter. Hope this helps you confirm any of your own thoughts (y).

Well it's a good day today! since buying the blue CLX in October I finally get to see it in all it's original glory ( not counting the wheels ).

As it's nearly Christmas, and my Birthday is on Sunday (Hint hint), I asked family members to contribute to my body trim fund. As a result they arrived at the Dealership yesterday and I've just spent some of the morning fitting them and going for a photo shoot.

I wanted to get some pictures quickly before anything happens to it! I'm a bit pessimistic since the drivers door on the 750 got stoved in.

Hope you like them........

Not a 4x4 of course, but with the oversize tyres and original roof bars, it doesn't look too out of place in this terrain. ;)

She looks very nice indeed. (y)

had a busy sort of day on the drive trying to figure out why grumbles feels so 'flat' at the mo. cambelt seemed to have slipped a tooth so timed that back in, and converted back to points distributor as father in law has discovered a fat sports coil in his shed full o' stuff which is now nestled comfortably under the bonnet. modded chokeless carb has gone back on now the constant floating crap blockages seem to have worked themselves through the system. Still feels indefinably not quite as nippy as he should:(. Any more tinkering will wait till after xmas I feel though, have to do for now.
