Just seen this on Ebay. I am not massively into my bass but I would like it to have a better kick than with just basic speaker set up.

How easier is it to install an active over a sub/amp seperate set up?

Would I still need to run cables here there and everywhere or is it just a simple one cable back to the HU from the sub??

It's a Pioneer DEH 7600MP HU with some JBL 6x9's in the back and JBL components in the front where the original speakers were (MK 2 Punto)

Active subs are dead easy to fit. All you need is a power cable from the battery, an earth lead connected to bare metal in the boot somwehere, a remote lead and phono leads from the headunit. No need to wire sub to amp- its already done also no separate amp to find a place for ;)

I'd steer clear mate. I doubt the quality is that good aswell as what chaos said.

Those sub's above look nice, it may be worth waiting for (if necessary) and getting one of those instead.

Active subs are easier to fit, but come on there is only one double wire more to link the sub to the amp. Its not exactly worth making a decision based on. However you will find that the frequencies will be very well matched and a better option, such as some fusion set ups. It all depends on what type of music you are into, etc. If your not into your base you may be better off with a set of decent 6x9's which will save space and work out cheaper. Hope this helps a little. Dan (y)

They do FLI IIRC, JBL etc., so not necessarily bad quality.

Yet!

Get a good 4 channel amp, junk the 6 x 9's and add a sub.

Use channels 1 & 2 to make your JBL comps sing, channels 3 & 4 bridged to pound the sub.

It doesn't matter what sort of music you listen to, rock, dance, jazz, rap - more bass improves things 10 fold.

I bet you could get a JBL amp, sub/box and wiring for £150.
