I'm trying to retrofit steering wheel controls and leather to my 2014 Doblo Cargo and am documenting some discoveries.
The main mistake is I purchased a Fiat Punto Mk3 steering wheel to fit the Doblo because it was cheaper and looked identical. I almost got away with it (airbag fits, steering wheel switch/horn connector appears to be the same) but the steering column end is completely different.
On a Punto it is much bigger ~23mm. You can tell the type by a T-shaped hole in the metal for the clockspring wires.
The Bravo and Doblo appear to share the same wheel platform ~17mm spline hole and shallower, with a rectangular hole for the clockspring and a DM brand cast into the metal on the bottom.
Shame because I got a really nice Punto leather steering wheel! I've hopefully found a Doblo one with the phone switches too so I'll probably get that.
While I have the Punto wheel I decoded the switch pinout, looking at the male connector on the steering wheel with two lumps facing upwards:
1 - SWS Right
2 - SWS Illumination 12V
3 - Horn -
4 - Horn +
5 - SWS Left
6 - N/C
7 - SWS Common
8 - N/C
SWS Left:
1.5kΩ - Mute
520Ω - Vol+
0Ω - Vol-
SWS Right:
1.5kΩ - SRC
520Ω - CH UP
0Ω - CH Down
I believe these signals would normally be wired to the BCM/fusebox and then sent to the OEM radio over CAN on ISO Connector A pins 1 and 3, but since they are not included in my harness, I will wire them direct from the clockspring connector to my aftermarket android headunit, which typically has a programming menu item and has a 3wire KEY1/KEY2/COMMON interface which exactly matches this.
The illumination signal is included on the ISO A connector which on my vehicle only has 4 wires:
Original Radio/CD: 07355124860
1 - N/C (CAN)
2 - N/C
3 - N/C (CAN)
4 - Ignition Power (fused)
5 - N/C (Power Antenna - fused)
6 - Illumination
7 - Battery Positive (fused)
8 - Ground
If you are having intermittent problems with your switch controls, it isn't too hard to take them apart and clean them with isopropyl alcohol. When testing the resistances they were pretty unreliable until I cleaned them. Just a small flat bladed screwdriver required to unclip the plastic fascia each side once you have the airbag off, which is surprisingly difficult. Screwdriver into the dimple/hole in the rubber behind the wheel. You're trying to press in a sprung wire so take some fishing. Then try and lever the airbag out whilst the spring is pressed in.
