Technical wet driveshafts -- anyone know?

The Xmas Cinq has a completely knackered outer driveshaft boot -- split all the way round -- so I doubt if there's been any grease in there for a long time: I recon the joint is probably a goner. But I do have a low mileage wet 1108 driveshaft.

It'd be quicker (I think) and easier to do a swap rather than faff about with the boot.

Anyone know if it'll fit?

How so? Both are wet. If the 1108 (wet) one is a straight fit in the 899, I've just got to dump the gearbag oil, pull it off, put it on. I'm not going to do a CV joint on the car.

The cinq 899 C501 gearbox looks to me to be identical to th Seic C526 one so I'd say it should fit.

I'm not sure, that's why I was asking. :bang:

But it seems unlikely that FIAT would have introduced two seperate completely fcuked drive shaft designs.............

Why not take the good CV off the 1108 shaft and put it on the 899 shaft.

Its an easier job anyway, as if you use the 1108 shaft, the spiders are the same, so should go in, your going to have to take the spider off to get the bearing for the inner boot onto the 1108 shaft.

I think the lengths might be different, which is the big question that I cannot answer, sorry.

May end up doing that. Object is to (natch) get the car sorted for as little as possible (and it's already going to need new front disks and pads), MOT it, and sell it on.

If I had the money I'd stuff a 1.4 16v in it (the shell is very good) but...........

Done it!

Yep, I can now confirm that 1108 wet driveshafts fit 899s. Moment of panic when I couldn't get the bolts that hold the plate that secures the inner pot joint gaitor to the gearbag to line up, but it's now on.
