i did some minor engine cleaning to the brava early today. and i took a little looksy in the TB it was a damn mess. so i decided to give it a right good clean and yankd it off. bolted the thing back and put all things back to where they were. now i seem to be haveing some slight issues with power, the engine revs faster, BUT it seems a bit lacking with torque. PLEASE dont tell me my Mk1 has a TB sensor...

 This makes me think twice about doing mine...
Was gonna do it this week-end....
Now I'm freaking out.

only the 1.2 has a TPS that can cause problem is a situation like this so dont worry.

i think the problem is the accelerator cable.

stick something heavy on the accelerator pedal to keep it fully depressed (a brick or a friend's foot).

now adjust the accelerator cable linkage on the TB to ensure the butterfly valve is fully open.

now drive faster (y)

dont try to be lazy and adjust the cable by guessing where it should be, if you over tension it you may cause damage when pressing hard on the pedal. this is why you need to adjust it with the accelerator pedal fully depressed.

 well i found out the issue, i tightend the cable as you said jug (thanks by the way it was REALLY slack) but alas that never gave me my low end back. i noticed when starting the car tham my CEL dosent work. so i took her to my mates garage today and plug her into the diagnostics. EGR valve, and the damn lambda sensor AGAIN:bang:. replaced them all. and i must say i am VERY impressed with the power(y), next on the list is a new cam belt. as mines starting to look worn. :yuck:

also can i get a re-map for the Mk1?

egr and lambda. both prime examples of modern rubbish that makes life harder. bring back the 80s.

on the mk1s you cant remap any of the models because none of them have eprom on the ecu.
however you can rechip them, but finding someone who will do it is not easy.

i was thinking about the possiblity if changing to a mk2 ecu for my car. that would allow a remap and give me 3bhp extra to start off with. all i need to do it get a mk2 ecu virginised to allow it to pair with my car's immob code box and stick it in my car. either way its not cheap. i'll always be better off buying an hgt.

i have a car from the 70's not saying what, but i will be happy as sin once i have that thing MOT worthy. which should be once i no longer fall through the floor.
