Hi.
Im new here..
I own a Punto Grande 2007, 1.4 Manual.
I got a problem with the steering wheel.
While the car is turned on and stands still and not moving or when im driving in low speed (less than 20km\h) and im turning the steering wheel to the right side only(!) i have a weird noise and bit of shakes from the steering wheel. if i do it more often the noise become louder.
something weird is that when im turning City Mode on most of the time there is no noises.

while driving i dont have these things but just when the car is standing or in low speed i get those noises and vibrations.

No check engine or steering wheel lights pops on the dash or something, just this.

sorry if i dont write properly my English is not very well.
Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Your English is excellent by the way. :)

Your problem sounds a bit like this:

https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/334748-grande-punto-grinding-vibrating-steering.html

https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/223975-steering-noise-vibration-gp-06-a.html

Can you tell whether the noise is coming from the steering column itself (power steering motor) rather than being transmitted from some part of the suspension? Might help to have someone listen from outside while you turn the wheel (while stationary - for safety).

Have a read of this guide and the comments accompanying it (they contain important extra information!) - it should give you all you need if you have to do this job yourself:

Grande Punto Power Steering Column Replacement

As noted in the guide, you will need to find the particular motor fitted to your car then get a matching one as there may be more than one kind.

the part underneath the streering wheel:
DWG Fiat 5501321

What i need to write in ebay/google to find the one that will match my car?

From your profile it looks like you are in Israel - are there any companies there that recondition and sell power steering motors? They should be able to advise you and supply a matching unit with a guarantee - and if there are problems it will be easier to resolve them.

However if you want to find something through Google or eBay, "Grande Punto power steering motor" or "Grande Punto power steering motor 5501321" should return some results. Then contact the seller to confirm that it is the right part for your car before buying.

Thank you mate.
Most of the garages especially fiat dealers dont want to deal with that kind of things (recondition) and want replace and get the big money ( 2700$ for the parts without labor and vat!!!)
Ive found 2 places who do recondtion and ill try there..

Excellent, hope they have the right one.
Sunday morning ill go to a garage ive found and he will replace mine with a recondition motor + steering column for 400$ + labor and vat.
:) ill let you know what is the results.

just wanted to update you all.
if you will have this problem with the steering wheel you got the answer right here :D

the problem was with the torque (angle) sensor.
as mentioned up here at Fiat garage they wanted to replace the whole steering unit including column, motor and wheel for over 4300$ (16,000 in israel coins including labor and vat:mad::bang:) this is so crazy and made me mad because its the price of new grande car.:bang::bang::bang:(n)(n)(n)

so ive asked google and found a place in Holland who specialized with that problem and sells this kind of sensor. he sent me the sensor + instructions and cable to calibrate the wheels after the replacement with the OBD program to use with a laptop + M&Ms' :D
the whole deal cost me 150 euro!!!
and now the steering wheel is silent as death and the feeling that you control the car is much better!!:slayer::slayer:

One more member who's not only satisfied getting solution or advice but who SHARE the results !! Congrats Omer !!

BTW, which company is it in the Netherlands ?

Shalom, Benie

Shalom mate! :)
i didn't know if its allowed here to put other webs address..
the website is http://www.steeringanglesensor.com/
and its look like they have every sensor you need for Fiat beside the angle sensor. maybe you can find it cheaper elsewhere but the service that you'll get from him is wonderful.. (he helped me by phone and answered few question i had during the replacement)

the thing is that he solved the problem after few minutes of talking and was 100% sure that the problem will be fixed and he gave me a warranty and his word that it will be fixed.
was really pleased that i even called him again to thank him :):worship:
