Hi everyone, I am new here.....
From th U.K.

I have just bought my son a Fiat 500 2018 1.2

Yesterday, on a driving lesson, the yellow triangle warning light came on....

Got home.
Tried disconnect battery for 10 seconds.....
Light was still on....

Dug out my old obd2 reader, linked to Torque app
Showed cylinder 1 missfire fault (cant remember the code no.)
Would not clear the code.....
Will have a proper go at it today.....

The noticed a leak from lower left side of engine bay.....

Checked and appears to be water....
Had the aircon on so probably that.....
checked engine water level... was ok

But weird that the yellow warning light came on roughly at the same time......

Got up early today started the car
No Warning Light...........

Anyone any ideas?

Bought it private or from a car dealer ?

Has it got a service history ?, if not I'd give it a full service, plugs , oil and filters.

The warning light indicates a selection of possible problems:

The warning light switches on in the following circumstances.
In these cases contact a Fiat Dealership to have the fault
fixed as soon as possible.
Engine oil pressure sensor failure
The warning light switches on when the engine oil pressure
sensor is incorrect.
Fuel cut-off system intervention/failure
The warning light switches on in the event of fuel cut-off
system intervention/fault. On some versions, the display
shows the dedicated message.
Exterior light failure
The warning light switches on when an external light failure is
detected.
Parking sensor failure
The warning light turns on and the message is shown on the
display when a parking sensor fault is detected.
Start&Stop system failure
The system failure is indicated by the switching on of the
warning light and the symbol on the display, together with
a dedicated message.

The light might be alerting you to another fault and your reader might not be capable of clearing the code anyway, but I'd be tempted if your reader is telling you cylinder 1, swap the coil pack to another cylinder and re-test the car

Many thanks for the reply

Bought from rac backed local small car dealer.....

The weirdest bit was that the warning light would not turn off last night
But
Today isnt on.???

Will try to clear codes again..... and give him another lesson tonight

If warning light comes on again will have it back to the garage....

But slightly awkward in the warning light is not lit

The triangle light is not the engine management fault indication. It generally lights for bulbs (it's not a brake light bulb is it?) or the particular things in the list @ZaphodB set out above. Do you have the engine management light on as well? (It's orange and looks like an engine...) And I presume you're not getting any textual messages on the screen at the same time?

The misfire might be a separate (or historic) issue - that should light the engine management light when it occurs.

Again thanks for the reply.....

No engine light on..... so hopefully nothing major
No text message

I will try to clear codes and then run it.

If it reappears I will take a photo of the dash and take it back to the garage...

Only bought it 10 days ago......

Thanks for the reply

All lights checked and ok....

Just cleared the error codes p0300 and p0301

Started engine multiple times reved engine etc etc etc

Codes havent come back yet.......

Water is air con almost certainly... If water in Rad is ok pretty well certain.

Misfire change plugs first. I had this so plugs, then leads, then coil pack. Probably Italian behaviour.... Code readers other than MES WHICH IS FCA tailored can be misleading. THIS FAULT IS COMMON AND RARELY SUBSTANTIAL in cause. Dont lose sleep, it will come right with fettling.

Even weirder
Son noticed that yellow warning comes on if after reaching the electrical activation on the ignition switch if he doesnt fully continue to the starter motor ...... ie the car starts but the starter motor part of the switch is not fully continued

Cleared the faults on the ecu
And they havent come back...... so probably old historical faults....

Car is running ok.....

So..its just.wait and see.......

Many thanks to everyone for all the replies
