My 2012 fiat 500 will not turn over, the fuel cut off is on and the dashboard shows errors with start stop not working and broken DLR. I've tired to manually turn off the fuel cut off but it doesn't do anything. I get no crank or anything, almost like the key does not exist, I've changed the battery in the key fob as the remote locking was not working and charged the car battery but still noting, any ideas?

Thanks

Hello,

When you turn the ignition on, does the immobilizer light goes off?

No idea if it appears in the center of the display, or is a light around it, but should look like that:

Ok thanks, no I just have the one key. Would a auto locksmith be able to check the key is working?

Here's my explanation how the keyfob works:

I assume yours is same.

Ok thanks, yes mine is the same.

Would this also throw up the fuel cut off error? I checked the battery health and it’s only 8% but reluctant to replace until I can get it running

There will be no fuel pressure / spark until the immobilizer is active.

The only way to mesure the battery health is a load tester, the electronic ones mesure the voltage and resistance and 'calculate' the health... :D What's the battery voltage?

If below 12 V, charge the car battery first. With a good charger, one which can make the density of the electrolyte. Not a cheap 'smart' lidl charger, if a 'smart' one, use Noco, ctek or another reputable brand.

If your car is equipped with start&stop system, check for the battery type and adapt the charging method.

I charged the battery yesterday with a noco charger, Topdon battery tester shows 95% charge battery health 8%

I’ve just taken the key fob apart and looks to be broken to me round the chip? That would not affect the transponder know, as it’s not connected to the circuit?

have seen a few people on eBay repair keys.

Is the transponder on the other side of the PCB?

saw
Note the "remote " has nothing to do with the immobiliser, as in the non remote key, the transponder chip is separate, whilst the remote might not say open the doors it's different to non crank?

Thanks i thought that might be the case but was hoping it might be a simple fix, now im not sure, dont want to waste money on a replacement key if it isn’t that

Quite recent thread here:

Another ones here:

No resolution though :(

I'd start by posting in the recent one, perhaps the OP's still there.

In general the U0422 errors mean a communication problem between the modules, the one is described as U0422-81 / Inertia switch problem and the other one as U0426-68 / Immobilizer - Event information.

What happened before the problem appeared?

Thanks, the batteries toast so I’m going to start by getting a new one. Fuses and relays all look fine and no obvious broken wires, have seen a company on eBay will disable the immobilizer in the ecu.
