Wow that would make a cheap van for someone, Sometimes i don't understand insurance company's, Surely it would have been cheaper to bung a new engine in rather than pay out for a new van. The mind boggles.

As for it being Coyles fault, I agree with Dave and having been in nearly the same situation back in Feb with stock induction it could just happened the same with coyles motor. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but doesn't help his present situation and to make certain points about his car just rubs salt into the wound.

As you know i have Messed with the induction on my car and if ever i drive through flood water i will be doubly careful but as Dave said could just well happen with stock air system as modded ones.

Sorry to hear about the car Coyle. As I've said on many occassions, I love the way it's developed. Hope you either get it back on the road or can find a cheap(ish) Stilo to transfer all the saveable bits onto. Seems like the best option if there's no way of salvaging your current engine :(

As for the whole driving through flood water debate, I try and avoid it all costs these days...take a long route home if I have to. I remember the disaster I almost had in my Dad's Uno. Water was about a foot deep, but didn't realise and it stalled right in the middle. Was about 5 miles from home and didn't have a mobile at the time. Thankfully it re-started and ended up being fine...lucky or what?

But youve left out the fact it was on coilovers..... Im sure Pete didnt design it with that particular application in mind
Being really low to the ground doesn't help for sure (although I think Coyle had raised the suspension a bit when this happened.)

On standard induction the danger height for water entry is just at the lip of the bonnet but I gather the water level was nowhere near that high.
