Jesus H Corbett - I am genuinely getting frightened atm - the amount of skidding noises I am hearing from outside has made me go out for a closer inspection!

I will be a bit surprised if the Sedici lasts the night without someone ploughing into it! Shame we live on a narrow road. Hopefully they will hit Hazels Barchetta before the Tipo :D

Just for info too - I have a faulty thermostat and the thing will not heat up in the morning on my way to work so I have a lemonade bottle with boiling water in planted on the dashboard half an hour before I leave home to get the internal windscreen demisted hehe

Wait, maybe not... it's a slope that leads onto the A34. :( fingers crossed I and Franco don't die tomorrow morning :p

Salt is a bugger tho... its making the arches on the MK3 dissapear even quickererer than they were before :cry:
 
The only way to deal with salt is to hose down the wheel arches/underside on a reasonably gentle "sprinkler" setting - to much power just drives all the crap into the hard to reach places!!

You must of course waxoil in the summer months!

Regarding the ice - my wife is driving around in my 16v Teapot every day at the moment ( her Panda is'nt well) and she has confessed to using to much of the power with "interesting" results. The car is still alive though......and as a result so is she!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
There is more ice tonight. Car was frozen solid at 7.00 this morning, the diesel had just warmed up enough by Leeds to start producing some heat :rolleyes:

On waxoyl applied externally it never seems to be still there come spring, even applied liberally. I have tried an underseal but once there's rust I tink you can only slow it down.

Conditions could be worse, in Russia in November, it was -12, the cars and roads were filthy, I was surprised and delighted to see a Mk1 Tipo steam past amongst Range Rover Vogues and ladas !
 
i used to like driving my tipo in the snow/ice, it was predictable and so easy to play with. on the original wheels it used to lock up in the dry easily enough so engine braking and pumping the brakes came naturally when needed.

when it snowed when i was at sixth form, my car handled the best, and didn't struggle at all, yet virtually every other car seemed to be struggling to stay on the road. three of us drove up on the hills to go sledging and the other two cars were making very slow progress due to the snow/ice. one was a 1.4 metro GTA which was struggling up a small hill, though that may be due to the driver. and the second was a golf tdi with fancy electrics which wasn't too bad but still not a patch on the tipo.

it was slippery yesterday driving to work, but i still haven't had a real test of it on the bigger wheels.
 
I thought the Tipo was supposed to be galvanised...

LOL yes mate it is - in fact I always remember even when I was a kid in the 1980s when the car came out that it was one of the first FIATS to have a bodywork warranty more than 12 months :) - I think the original Tipo's was 3 years.

My Sedici still had rust when I got it after 15 years and 130,000 miles but the only rust was on the window trims - I think he's doing well, given the ****e weather we get here and have right now!

Off now, Hazels just ordered a kebab - later peeps! :slayer:
 
Nowt wrong with the weather - it's the crap the councils throw down on a slightly chilly road that really rots your car.

My sedici has slightly rusty arches and 2 patches on the underside - just below where driver and passenger put their out-board feet
 
I was talking about my MK3 Golf, hehe :p

Fiat did make a cock up galvanising everything but the floor however! Especially as my sunroof still leaks, can't be a good thing :(:rolleyes:
