I’m having problems with my 2017 Fiat 500 pop. The injection/eobd system failure light comes up while driving and the start stop becomes unavailable. This has been an ongoing problem for a while then suddenly when sat in traffic the Esc and hill holder would light up and the car will cut out. These lights will come on and go off intermittently

Ive had a mechanic look at it and change the evap valve and smoke test it. This didnt fix nor find any other problems.

The clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder then needed to be replaced, the warning lights stayed off for a day then today only the EOBD and start stop have come on again.

I’m at a loss of what can be the problem and I do plan on taking it to a Fiat dealership but wanted to see if anyone had any similar problems/fixes?

Thanks!

My money is on poor voltage. This can be battery, earthing, battery terminals etc. Lots of lights means to me its nothing to do with them specifically.

As its a 500 also try opening the tailgate when you have lights on and see if this changes anything. Tailgate wiring is a known 500 issue but on a 2017 car I would not particularly expect it. Have a look at the MES register here on the forum and see if you can find a local FF contact who can read any fault codes before going to the dealer. It may identify something at little or no cost.

I assume you mean the EML light, engine management light, if yes then any stored codes can be read using mes software only then go from there, very common issues engine earth strap, rear hatch wiring, poor battery state, ignore stop start and esc lights for now
Thanks so much! Where i am there doesn’t seem to be any MES scanners (looking at the map on this website) will a Fiat dealership have one? As you can tell I am clueless about cars, love them but know nothing about them!

They will have the tools to read the car, ask before the cost of this

Fiat dealers often charge 1 hours labour (150/180 pounds) to do the diagnostics ( for a job that take 10 minutes) many of us dont appreciate the rip off! whats your location then? must be remote if you really dont have any MES members near you!.

The two most important checks the earth strap and hatch wiring are physical checks- that might find your problem without the initial diagnostics!.

Hi,
Does it have a stubby stalk - with RES on the end, (just below the indicator stalk)

Are you north of the Central Belt? 🤔

We’ve just had the battery checked and it is needing replaced. We are going to do this asap and see if it fixes the warning light issue, thank you for your suggestions much appreciated!

Tayna will have a Battery at your door on Saturday

My 500 battery had as 4 year guarantee, bought at purchase on 50k miles

3.5 years in still runs Stop-Start reliably 👍
