Hi All My first post so please be gentle! :)
A warning lamp the sahpe of an engine block has just appeared on my sister-in-law's 2001 BravA 1.4 Some times it's constant other times it flashes. It idles like a bag of spanners but seems to pick up when you rev it a bit.
Is there a way to talk to the car without taking it in somewhere to find out what's upsetting it?
Any suggestions or ideas would be most gratefull. (y)
TIA Andy

Cant identify the problem from your description (could be a number of things) You might have to seek expert help. Where are you located? A number of forum members know independent good garages/mechanics so could point you in the direction of one.

Just updated with where I live, Bury Lancs. Isn't there a way of flashing the fault codes up like my Vauxhalls, or is it purely diagnostic fault code readers that can diagnose?

flashing means serious misfire, that is usually due to leads and plugs on the 1.4, replace them.

you can only retrieve fault codes via a diagnostic, and the bravo uses a fiat specific protocol and 3 pin connectors so most readers wont be able to connector or communicate.
