Seriously Puntofan, you need to learn, you can’t say something is good or bad until you’ve actually tried it, used it, lived with it, then you can comment.

So basically, once again, you are lecturing me on what I do and don't want, even though you don't actually know me. Accept it: I'm content with what I've got, so quit the lectures!

No one is saying you can’t be content with what you have, but youre slagging off things you’ve never tried...

I don’t think he slagged of automatics, he was just saying manual is working well for him and he’s happy to just leave it that way. Same with me to be honest.

I’m on a cycling forum and those guys believe if you need gears at all you should be over 50. Maybe with driving it’s the same eh? An age thing? ;-) (just joking)

If I remember rightly you’ve loved the GP since you were a kid and wanted one ever since which is fine you now have your dream car, I think I also remember you saying you love cars.

Would it not be of interest to go and have a day or two potter around car show rooms and have a look at what’s available these days, even request some test drives, even better a 24hr test drive. You might even find your next dream car!

My other half has a 2010 car, and is content with it and has no interest in changing it, so I understand what you are saying.

Like it or lump young fella when you come on to an open forum there will be different points of views, some you will not agree with, but hey! that's forums for you. If someone continues to bite, well that's up to them. I like a bit of craic but it's knowing when to let go, & of course you are falling into the classic scenario of taking things too personally.

Just making an observation by the way....;)

There's nothing that really grabs me tbh. The Panda is very appealing, likewise the Sandero, but that's pretty much it. I like the i20, but that would be my 4th choice after the Sandero.

Oh, I don't have a problem with people having different opinions, it's when they feel the need to lecture others that I feel it's a bit out of order.

Ah! you really haven't grasped fully my observation, you seem to be still taking things far too personally. Nobody, as far as I can see is trying to "lecture" you as you see it. Forums are what they are. Full of information for those that need it & on the other hand, willy waving, differences of opinions, going off in tangent. I certainly would not expect for everyone to agree with everything I tap out on here, but there are times when there comes a time to agree to disagree. Getting all worked up because you feel hard done by some bloke in Londonshire or whatever that you've never met over a trivial car related conversation, is a bit lame...:D

Chill out & take things easy, after all life is far too short & precious. ;)

You can call it what you like, if you want to take it as a lecture then feel free.

If you are content with what you that super for you, go off somewhere else and lavish in your happiness, the fact of the matter here is that you don’t go off and be happy with what you have, what you instead do, is keep coming back here and rubbishing anything else.

You said
“Quite frankly, I think that a lot of the infotainment systems fitted to cars nowadays should be illegal, as there's just too much potential distraction for the driver.” Really you do do you, based on what exactly?

You also said you have no interest in driving an automatic, (that super and I couldn’t care less if you did or didn’t) but your justification for this was because you would miss changing gear, but again not based on anything and when any one challenged you on your reasons you had no better reason that saying ‘because I would!’ I imagine at this point you crossed your arms and huffed while saying it.

The whole point in a forum is to share ideas and discuss things. But you’re not willing to discuss, all you want todo is try and validate your decision to buy your car and nothing else.

If someone doesn’t agree that your car is the best you won’t just say “well it might not be the best but it suites my purpose” instead you try to rubbish anything else.

Look if you don’t want to discuss things and you can’t accept people have a very different opinion to you, and seemingly most people have a different opinion to you, then a forum where the whole point is discussion, probably isn’t the place for you.

I find the whole thing quite funny, the more you challenge and dig your heels in the more it actually confirms you’re not happy or content, it paints a picture of someone who is quite bitter and jealous. You essentially don’t want to open yourself up to the idea you might be wrong.

In the words of Queen Gertrude of Shakespeare’s Hamlet “The lady doth protest too much, methinks”

Nb. That was a lecture.

Don't judge us all by your own standards Mr. Kett. You may be jealous of people who have newer and more expensive wheels than yourself, but I am not.

You may not intend it as such, but you do come across as someone who does all they can to prove everyone wrong. Certainly, nobody else on this forum gives that impression.

There is something to be said for not rubbishing things you don't see the appeal of. I can see the ideological appeal of a Sandero..it's like the can of baked beans of cars. Does it appeal to me? Nah I'd want some toast with that...your Bentley driver he wants the Beluga caviar..

I'm not going to pretend I've always been fair and impartial. There are things I don't like and things I do and at this point in my forum career I'm fairly sure regular posters know most of them! But at the end of the day we move on, as long as it doesn't degenerate into name calling it's all right. Me and Andy have argued for days on occasion but if he was in my local I'd get a drink..hell we could have a none imaginary conversation about Passat W8s..

What the heck are you on about?

There seems to be few threads currently deteriorating into arguments. None are really getting anyone anywhere, except creating some ill-feeling.
Most of the guys arguing have been really helpful with issues in the past, so it is shame that this is happening.

Perhaps it is because there are not enough Fiats needing attention, so not enough to occupy our helpful minds. Could be a good sign then. :D

Lol I suspect at the moment I’d be tapping you up for running advice, kit recommendations, and I suspect talking nonsense about cars.

Truth is I am a car enthusiast and I appreciate all cars for what they are, and I know to understand what is good you have to experience the bad.

I had a similar conversation with maxi not that long back, that we might not agree on something and we might not be able to find common ground on a subject, but we can at least appreciate each other’s view points and experience and move on, the key here is we have experience.

Oh I’m definitely jealous of someone who can afford a Ferrari or a new 911, even a Bentley or a Rolls, but at the same time I’m happy for anyone who has had that level of success in their life to be able to afford such a machine. Anyone who works hard to earn their money deserves to spend it however they wish.

I certainly wouldn’t go around telling everyone their (clearly much better to my own) car was crap or that features their car have are no good or more than I would need. Clearly that’s an idiotic stand point for me to be coming from, no one needs a convertible and no one needs 18” wheels or heated leather seats, this are clearly playing to my own vanity and are within my budget, as much as a £200k super car would fit the budget of a millionaire.

When you go around rubbishing everything that anyone else has that’s better than your own, then your either jealous or a jerk, if you say you’re not jealous then, well....

Can I just say... we recently got a camper van... under no circumstances did I want a VW camper as they are common as muck and I’m fed up with seeing old builder van T5’s converted into campers with silly oversized alloys.

So... we have a MK2 2.0 pinto engine Ford Transit auto sleeper.

It’s amazing, it has no equipment, no power steering, 5 fuses, a carburettor, manual choke, 4 gears and it’s noisy. It’s great fun.

And there's the difference between yourself and I. I'm not jealous of millionaires, nor do I wish to be 1.

I like campervans and caravans. Someone I used to work bought a tidy 1980 Bedford CF Autosleeper for just £3,000. Bargain! :)

And when you try something better and more powerful you’ll change your view.

A few months ago I drove a 530bhp twin turbo v8 powered car through work. The engine was just gooooooooorgeous.
