My Visteon CD unit is giving up the ghost, and I'm going to replace it (from ebay) with another factory unit.

Only question is, is there any difference between the normal model, and the MP3 model? Apart from the fact it can read MP3 cds, is there any sound difference?

I've heard that the ConnectNav doesn't sound quite as good, so I was wondering what the differences are.

And I suppose I'll go for a black one, rather than fitting a silver one into my black interior car...?

I replaced the tape player in mine with an MP3 compatible Visteon unit, and, although I can't compare it with a standard CD player, the sound quality is pretty good.

How about THIS one?

I was looking at a standard one, and an mp3 one that was from the same seller as your link.
I just noticed that the normal one just sold, so I bought the mp3 one! The sticker said Nov 10, so it should have plenty of life left in it.
Made a best offer and got it :)

I looked on ebay and at the time 60 quid was the norm. Being tight I thought I would get better so went to a scrap yard and only paid £25. Than one in the link looks clean but he could not be bothered to take the connectors out proper, he just cut them by the looks of it. Hope he took it out the car with better care or your locking pins at the sides may be bent.

Only just noticed that - on the one I bought, the connectors have been removed properly, and it looks in excellent condition.
I made an offer of £40 (plus shipping) and got it. Was dispatched today!

I paid similar for my last one off eBay - only lasted about 10 months.

I was quite drawn by the fact the one I've just bought says Nov 10 on it, so hopefully shouldn't have life left in it.

I would not have bothered had I known about the yatour mp3 player before I bought it as I have not played a CD since buying it. I am thinking of just putting the cassette player back in and punting the CD on ebay or the likes.

Yeh, the Yatour kit is great. However, I still found myself using CDs sometimes.
And most of all, don't you think putting your cassette player back in would make the car look older?

Old!! Retro is the word your looking for mate :) My cassette player is on ebay at 99p and not getting a sniff, Lol. I may keep it for emergency's if it does not sell. There was a mp3 head unit I wanted when I went to the scrap yard but the plastic cover was cracked and I never had the tools with me to swap them over what was a bummer as I played a lot of mp3 disks in my last car. Still, this way I can have my sat nav or phone through the speakers now.

Well isn't it just typical...
Got my new head unit in the car - still got the same problem!

Next thing is going to be a new tweeter.

The problem is when you turn the radio on, it crackles out of the left tweeter for a few seconds, and if you give it a quick blast it starts working properly.
