i know, it's a new bit of wallpaper covering up ntl/telewest/etc etc, but....has anyone joined up? i have ntl now, and was with cable london from teh early days, but the time has come to make a decision for the new year, stay and go with virgin, or switch to bt/sky

heavily tempted by the V+ box that can record on 2 channels and let you watch a third......

Iam switching to NTL next week. Iam already using NTL as my server and phone. Iam sick of Sky freezing, pic going completely when raining,[missed one half of a football match and was mad!! ], and a jumpy picture on some channels that they cannot cure. I was interested in Sky +, but with hundreds of faulty boxes, or maybe thousands, i said no. I will see how it goes, and best of all, is the on demand films and programmes NTL have. Loads to choose from, and the ability to record up to 3 channels at once!! Its certainly more advanced then Sky, and now virgin are partners, will get even better.

Andy.:)

I thought I'd never see the day people saying they want to join NTL/ Virgin Media :D

Actually I'm liking this. We've never had any major issues with the services. Plus the extra competition against Sky is always a good thing.

Theres an article about Virgin Media and Sky etc in todays Guardian in the business section (sad Im one of those who like to read the business section) anyway Virgin Media has started laying out what it wants to achieve and is going to launch an offensive against sky so look out for some great deals/offers etc

Virgin Media
Four-for£40 combo (TV, landline, mobile, broadband) of 65-plus channels, landline 2mb broadband and mobile package.

Sky
The See, Speak, Surf package(TV, Broadband, landline) at £37.

The exact same reason we swapped over to ntl.

They wanted £140 to move the dish that they had installed wrongly. When we left they put me through to retentions and they said we could have it moved for free...no thanks..customer service after the event is a bit late imho

We have sky multiroom and it's been perfect since we had it installed? Maybe bad installations cause problems?

*touch wood.

If i want ntl they want to charge me £120 to fit the cables to my house. the rest of the road has ntl bar my house, as its only 5 years old.

dont know why i should have to pay that tho?

To be honest Angel thats their set fee. With the re-branding plus their drive to gain new customers, you'll most likely get that install cost waivered.

Thing is you can phone up say your interested and if they did give an install fee, ask them do you really want my business then?

haha NTL is a joke the TV was awful so i got sky which is 1000 times better the broadband is over priced and there are alot of better deals out there. nad the phone is expensive too for calls especially when calling abroad. i fully intend to switch to the new sky see speak and surf deal when i move.

Custard, have you read it or am I having a dumb moment? The whole article suggests that it's sky that is playing hardball trying to monopolise on their position?

2 for £20 deal can't be beaten with Virgin Media, I don't need a phone so BB and TV for £20.
