Hello. I have just bought a very basic desk top computer to replace my ancient Dell which seems to have become the technological version of arthritic of late.
However being a traditionalist I was a bit surprised that these days Windows media player is not pre-installed and I need an "app". I wanted to see what Top Gun looks like on my new flat screen! (Yes very sad I know).
Is there a decent free one that is recommended? I just had a look in the App store and it's a bit bewildering.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks

Hi.
I don't understand why you would need an app on a desktop PC:confused:
You do not. Windows media Player is free and it works just as advertised.
Download it

Thanks for your reply.
It's just that there are so many media players, and some spoof places to download them from I was being a bit over cautious I think.
Thanks for your reply anyway.

Actually I have just realised why I was looking for this.
The version of Windows Media player shipped with Windows 8.1 does not have DVD playback facility, so the Microsoft download centre suggests visiting the app store to get a DVD player.
