WARNING! CONTAINS DISTURBING IMAGES,
SOME VIEWERS MAY FIND DISTRESSING

Thought i'd share these images with all of you, of my friends car. This happened on Sunday night. He is very lucky to be alive and i want people to take note and be aware of how dangerous going fast really is. There are many youngsters out there who feel invincible behind the wheel, please, take your time and slow down, this is my friends 3rd write off now, next time he may not be so lucky.

For those interested, he lost the back end on a sharp right hand bend, he recovered it but because of the speed of the spin, when he applied the brakes, all four wheels locked up and caused him to spin again. He was then sliding towards a left hand bend side on, as he hit the kerb, the car barrel rolled down an embankment and hit a tree, drivers side sill on. The tree was uprooted from the impact, my friend briefly passed out. When he came too, the seat was as you see it in the pictures, the impact had winded him and he could barely get his breath. He noticed the sound of water. Then he looked down and saw his leg wedged under the steering wheel, which he managed to prize up and free his leg.

Amazingly he walked away with a one inch graze on his shoulder. Had the tree not have uprooted (95% of the time they remain rigid) he would be dead, had the car have hit the tree side on instead of on the sill, he would be dead. The roll actually saved his life as it caused the car to hit the tree on the strongest part of the car's structure. Had anybody else been sitting behind him, they would be dead. Please be aware, speed kills, take your time especially in icy/wet conditions. It's not worth it and nobody is invincible so take care and drive safe.

bloody hell he is on lucky guy to survive that...... i would hate for that to happen to me.....:(

Speed doesn't kill you. It's the sudden stop. ;)

Besides, seems like it was stupidity at work here, not speed. If he has managed to write off 3 cars already, he must be doing it wrong. If he wants to drive fast, let him do so on a track, not a public road where others will get stuck in traffic because he wrapped his car around a tree.

I'm sorry, but I can't feel any sympathy for someone who appearantly keeps taking the risk and not learning from his mistakes. It's people like him who are the reason you write about "youngsters feeling invincible" and insurance companies acting accordingly.

Re: Very Lucky Escape...

Nasty. If this is his 3rd write-off, do you think he will learn? Might not survive the 4th.
That's what i'm worried about. It's the second time he's rolled a car too and he was lucky to get out of that one as well. He's my best mate, he's the only friend i've got really and he's a decent bloke. Past couple of years he's had a tough time, lost his Dad and his Grandad recently, not to mention his Dog. His Mum would be devastated if she lost him too. It's hard to tell somebody they need to slow down, sounds like you're having a go at them and suggesting that they're a bad driver.

Re: Very Lucky Escape...

Sorry to say this...But you ought to remind your mate that he is lucky that he only uprooted a tree, and never wiped out some family with young kid's! Or else he may be looking at a bit of a stretch inside, and have to live with the guilt for the rest of his life.
Someone local did a similar thing last year, he is currently serving 12 years!

I accept your opinion, but he's not claiming on the insurance. My friend suffers from poor hand to eye coordinations as well as a short concentration span etc. He can drive well when he wants to, but he just pushes it too hard sometimes. He was also very tired when the accident happened so another lesson is: DON'T DRIVE WHILST TIRED!

Yea thanks, happens a fair bit round here as you can imagine with such dangerous roads. A couple of nights ago, somebody else rolled over a wall into a field too. It's not always down to speed, most of time it's driver error and when it does happen, we just have to pray nothing is coming in the other direction.

Agree entirely, no sympathy at all for him.

Three accidents? and he's got 'this' (tired, hand/eye etc).

Lucky? Maybe.

Tosser - definately

Wow! Nice way to judge. Some people just aren't good drivers. I personally feel DraigFlag87's friend should really think more about what he/she's doing because next time they could be dead and they could take some innocent person with them too. I grew up driving karts for a long time before I drove a car so for me correcting little slides as well as judging grip levels is a very natural thing which I do without thinking but some people just don't have those skills.

I do hope this is his friends last crash :)
