Does anyone know a price for the variator and timing belt?

My car has 69500 miles & cambelt is due at 72k?

Car sounds diesely so I suspect variator - Where is the best place to get done?

Thanks.

What about any recommend garages in the East Yorkshire area to fit the parts though?

For that you might want to wade through the endless posts in the garages section..good luck (y)

cost me just £628 for a variator, cam belt change (full kit) and keep in mind its about a 4 hours job! So keep in mind the cost of labour that was the best price i could get! the varied upto £800. Ull be lucky to find a garage thats not a fiat main dealer or fiat/alfa specialist that will take the job on due to some of the tools being specialist to the job and the stilo aint the most common car!

EDIT: although it was worth every penny, she drives likes she new again :D ...oh and mine has only just clocked 52k, mileage is irrelevant is more to do with the age, i would recommend the change to be done at 4years, but fiat says 5!

If you mean timing belt and pully kit the full original fiat parts can be purchased from ggb 01274733727 in Bradford and N&S Motors in Wakefield will fit them 01924 831140. They did my 1.8, it cost about £90. And they reset the service computer. Top lads.(y)(y)

I've got it booked in with a local Fiat Specialist.

They are replacing the cambelt, tensioner & idle bearing, variator, oil seal and cambox gaskets. The price to do this (using genuine parts) would be £381.89

Hi All,

I have an Abarth and I thought it prudent to get the cam belt and variator changed along with the 48000 service, I drive it like I've pinched it.

The best quote in the end was Souls of Milton Keynes (FIAT dealer) £514 inc. VAT. This covers the full 48000 service, the full cam belt tensioners etc. genuine FIAT parts and a car for a couple of days whilst the work is being carried out. They normally give it a good clean too!

Souls are always worth a try and they always match or more often beat other quotes.....

hi everybody im pretty much still a newbie on here bought my first italian car the 1.8 stilo 5 door approaching 58k

finally took my car to a place local to me which couple guys on here recommended called clovertech in essex, I already had the service parts & cambelt kit so just needed lubricants/oils etc and anything else on top total came up just under £256 for the full service and cambelt change.

I didnt mention it but When I got called with regards to the car being completed I asked about the diesel engine type sound each time when started and Lloyd (clovertech) mentioned a variator and quoted part and labour etc for £230 which is not to bad considering the part is abit pricy and he did mention a good 3-4 hours to do the job.

So I shall be picking it up tomorrow after thats done too.

Just got a variator from ebay - much, much cheaper! Don't sponsor your dealer :)
