hehe, well the "pink" strut brace is going off to the powder coaters along with my anti roll bar and a few other bits! all to come back nice and red :D

as for the rest of the engine bay, i've got quite a few plans yet which will make my bay look F'ing MINT!!! more red hoses, more alloy tanks, more painted parts, more goodridge connectors, more everything ;)

I love the fact that this cars back on track and you didnt break it for parts, such alot of work would've been wasted. Looking forward to seeing more progress, you'll maybe have it ready for the road sprayed and everything by the end of this summer if you keep this pace :p (y)

Hey dunc you're bonkers:) you must have spent more on the fittings then the enigine, bloody good effort. Filter is nice, but the FPR is now looking a little bland, how about one of the sytec anodised versions??!!. If I had more time I would have got someone to weld on some -8 fittings to the cam cover and made something for the block breather to fit lines to the catch tank so they could be easily re-usable; but I drew the line saying it wasn't needed - but would be cool. Keep it up. Do you think you'll get to the Gaydon AI?

Jordan, i'd love to have it finished this summer! but we'll see lol! think is, i dont like spending all my money in one go, like to spread the cost as i'm saving up for another project at the mo! maybe a escort cossie, or an old skool 911 turbo in need of resto! who knows!

cheers Rich :d glad u approve!i know what u mean about the FPR. its an FSE one, but something like the sytec one could be a future mod!
I'm going to fit an oil catch tank, and use goodridge fittings for that, so i will have to get a threaded bit welded on for the return.

just a little pic, last nite while kate (the GF) was watching TV, i got me paint out :D

Oh Dunc, I cleaned up my reseviors and painted the fixings - partly because I had to remake some of them to clear the throttle bodies. I used stop quick (from a 5 ltr drum not the spray) and a homebase value paint brush - they were like new - god knows where I put the rubber thingy that goes on top the brake level tester!!

Rich, ur engine bay looks so tidy! i'll be painting more and more parts on mine soon, but priorites first unfortunatly!

right, bit more of an update! Here's what ive been up to :)

Got my modded fuel rail back. Had the standard fiat fitting cut off and a -6 threaded end put on so i could connect it to my new fuel system :)

then i got my fuel rail and all bits back together. you'll also notice the painted up plastic wire cover over the fuel rail fitted too :) Looks pretty good yeah?

i then went onto changing over my old boot which has a crack in it, over to my new perfect boot :)

as you can see, the polycarb window is waiting to go in ;)

ithen i painted the edge of the window so no green would be showing through the window when fitted.

also, i tidied up and finished off my breather for my fuel tank. cant belive ive fitted an expensive Goodridge hose finisher underneath my car LOL!! :D

I'm now waiting on more braided hoses to arrive and my Cosworth Group A Fuel pump to arrive so i can finish off the last bit of my fuel system!

Nice work Dunc,

I like the way you can keep the momentum going by working on small but achievable parts of the big job :)

How much weight does the polycarb rear window save vs. standard glass? Also, did you manage to get any weight out of the tailgate itself? I think the Mk1 fibreglass tailgate is heavier than the Mk1 steel tailgate!

hi alex!

not lightened the boot at all. didnt even think about this! hmmmmmmmmmmmm! now u have got me thinking!

the polycarb window is about half the weight if i remember correctly!

all the little things i do all add up! to be honest, once my fuel pmp arrives, i can finish the fuel system, then its a gearbox rebuild, then get it all back together! rolling road, respray then done! except all the tiny jobs which i'll do once its all painted and setup :)

getting well into building it again! infact, on that note, i'm off to order more samcos for the water pipes! :D

Right then, a bit more of the puzzle completed! all these small updates all add u :)

I took delivery of this which id been waiting for as i ran out :D MORE BRAIDED HOSE YAY!!! lol

So i cracked on and fitted a 90deg Goodridge connector to the hoses and got it all into place. This alone took me 2 hours and was a complete ARSE of a job!! But i got there in the end and got it really neat don't u think?

Fitted a couple of hoses separators to keep it tidy :)

Then just left the hose there unfinished at the other end as i was waiting for delivery of my fuel pump!

Yesterday (26th June), my fuel pump arrived :D YAY!!

Bosch "979" Fuel Pump. This is the original pump used on Cosworth Group A cars and RS200's! This is good for 350bhp, so is a good mod for future engine mods :D

and got it fitted! cut off the braided hose where i needed it, fitted another 90deg bend onto it, then fitted it to the fuel pump.

the pics dont do the whole fuel system justice, but when u see it in the flesh, u can understand how hard/expensive/ball ache of a job all this is! :d im soooo happy with it all :D

next is a little job ive been doing as and when i could be assed!
Having never been fully satisfied with how high the front bumper looks, and genuinely how wrong the hight of the front bumper look (looked un finished), i decided to fit a Laguna splitter.

bit of a pain to fit, cutting it in the middle and shortening it, and then cutting "V's" in the corners to bend it round more then its natural bend is.

i eventually got there and think it looks great! really finishes the bottom off now and cant wait to see the UT back on the ground to get a proper idea :D

Yeah bit tired to work out exactly what part it was... On the Tipo the sparkplug cover sits in the cam cover so in my mind at least I was in the right area! :p

All them hoses are looking good. Going to have to give it a vacuum out soon, it's looking mucky ;)
