Re: UT Restoration, New Thread. UPDATED 26/02/07 Carbon Fibre Bits

Dunc, if the master cylinder isnt up to the job for the breaks and want one that i know does work and shouldnt be too expencive, try the 1600 bravo one, got a mate running brembos on his with a 1600 master cylinder and works a treat :)

as for the car and how its coming along (or was... pull your damn finger out biatch!) youve got me thinking along the lines of a project track car :( looking at pug 205 gtis that need fixing up (just missed a runner for 250 with low miles, not mot or tax and looking ropey on the outside yesterday :() but will keep on with it :) mi16 or 8v turbo would be the end plan, and its all your damn fault!!! altho im thinking of keeping it 1600 to get into the super stocks race series :yum: i dunno, just want a quick project now :( lol

yeah on the final bits now, but as u can see from the next set of pics, looks like im going backwards!!!!!

right, today i fitted up a couple of cupboards and fitted my work bench into my garage. once this was done, i had a tidy up and then it was back to work!

first job, sort my gearbox/selecting problem.

so, i removed a few bits for starters, filter, boost pipes, AFM, and other bits and bobs.

hubs nut removed, caliper, dics and hub loosened and removed from drive shaft, then the box bolts off and box removed!

clutch off.
uno_resto_005.jpg

we found that the outside of the clutch casing was catching on the inside of the gearbox housing  now it really shouldnt be doing that. so im sending my gearbox, clutch, release bearing and fly wheel off to the company that made my 4 paddle clutch for them to have a good look at and see if they can sort it. once theyve checked there part, then its back on and sorting the gear linkages!

and heres how i left it tonite hehe

once the gearbox problems sorted, its time to sort the brakes, then we're cooking on gas and i'll be getting the car MOTable and doing the bear minimum to get it on the road. then i'll fit NOS etc once its on the road!

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread. UPDATED 04/03/07 GEARBOX OFF!!! :-O

Not been on 4 a while. Car looks great, tidy but not in your face and it will surprise anyone not paying attention. Re clutch, whenever you do stuff like this you are setting yourself up as a development engineer, without all the kit the factory has, so it's not easy. Can you just grind a few mm off the inside of the bell housing? Or is it so bad that your worried it may weaken it too much for the power you will be pushing thought it? (Only if the clutch vendor come back and says nothing to be done from their end). I had similar thing with the MGB, I had to take the starter motor back out and put washers behind the pinion to stop it touching the flywheel occasionally. It's a skinned knuckle job even with the engine lowered a bit and just what you don't want when you think you have finished.

Dunc, no reply for a while.

Looks like you have given up, so close to the end too!!!

Since selling my bravo and getting my alfa i have only been coming on here to see your beast on the road.

Any chance if the project been completed soon?

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread. UPDATED 04/03/07 GEARBOX OFF!!! :-O

right, sorry ive not been on here or updated in a while, other things have got in the way as well as a 5 turbo van, been extremly busy with work and other commitments, but the uno project is just about to start up again and get finished ;)

tonite, im off down to the garage to make a list of whats left to do to get it MOTed, and on the road.

once this is done, im gonna fit the fuel tank properly, NOS and a few other bits, but main thing is getting it road worthy now and then getting it sprayed ;)

ive bought a new mk1 boot for it too, as mine has a crack all the way up the middle, its fixable, but was easier to buy a mint 2nd hand one, will get pics later

keep with me people, IT WILL BE FINISHED!!!!!!!
