ah right, thought theyd be upgraded too. could be upgraded though right?

did you spray the callipers as opposed to brushing them?

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 05/03/06*

theres not really anything u can upgrade the rears too TBH. got braided hoses for them too and will run dot 5.1 brake fluid so will be good stopping power all round anyway matey, i'll show u when its back on the road if u really needa demo ;)

yup, sprayed the calipers!

demo would be great ;) :p lol

right, if/when i get gt calipers theyll be sprayed finish looks alot better and will be more even lol. what primer / paint was it?

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 07/03/06*

Yeh what paint did you use dunc? As i wouldnt mind knowing seeing as whenever i have done hammerite on a customers car they've brought it back saying its peeling because of the heat and they're defo prepped properly that isnt a question! Sand-blasted then washed with soap then in thinners, left to dry in heat then painted with the hammerite spray. Sometimes with primer sometimes without! Now i use a proper heat proof paint but its just the cheapo stuff from the loacl motor factors as i dont have time to go for it and they deliver free of charge 4 times daily.

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 07/03/06*

i used high temp primer and the VHT red paint. the laquer is also a very high temp jobbie. ive used hammerite before tho and never had probs? but ive been assured that the VHT stuff is really really good!

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 07/03/06*

yeah its good stuff, bit thin and the red isnt the brightest but ahh well! we'll see how good it is when i get on the track and do some serious braking lol!

heres another pic now with the laquer on and looking shiney :D

For brake callipers I would never use anything other than Folia Tec Brake Calliper paint kit, I first used it about 8 years ago on my R5GTT and the callipers still look good today.

It a 2 part kit that you mix the paint and the hardner and its produces a finish that is almost like an epoxy finish that you get on springs etc the finish is way superior to other paint finishes and is purpose meant for the job, well worth the £20 it costs.

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 07/03/06*

master cylinder to brake distributor/start of metal hoses?

Calipers look mint(y)

why didn't you dismantle them and paint them seperate as it would look like factory jobs then (with all the nuts and bolts and equaliser pipes all black and minty). But then I'm a tart and everything has to be just so:rolleyes:

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 07/03/06*

well, i plan on having them refurbed professionally one day, so this is just so they look good for now and get me back on the road! they were refurbed not long ago apparently but not resprayed!
