Hey no worries Dunc always willing to give input from what i have found, and yes it does look fecking ace!

As for eth number plate issue, i kow of many a 'grale owner running wit no fornt number plates and never getting any problesm with them, or the stick on kind as well on front of bonnet. There is an issue of the bonnet not showing the plate at correct angle, but i know of not one 'grale owner ever having problems MOT time or from the local constabulary!

PS rememebr those rear UT callipers, brackets and hubs for me (y)

we'll see at the weekend how i can mount the number plate hehe, and cheers, glad u love the look of the intercooler!

(y) dont worry, i'm on it for the brakes matey ;) not forgot u

That intercooler is massive, its going to look amazing.

I have red the threads but i amy have missed one about where your radiator goes, is it to the left or right of the intercooler or are you having no radiator ;) lol

You arent re-locating it into the rear of the car are you?

thanks (y) should look pretty mint when done!

belive it or not, the rad is goin in the original position behind the intercooler. it was situated there with my old intercooler and i never had any over heating probs so hopefully it will be the same this time round. enough air flows through the intercooler to keep the rad happy :)

well done for noticing that i haddnt meantioned it tho! :D

Those the actual stickers?
Rally style?

Yeah you can get them made up to stick to bonnet, lots of MX5 and stuff have them as well, strictly speaking they do not conform to the registration regs about how reflective it is, but my mate with a MK3 Astra GSi had to front mount his intercooler for his 2L 16V 6 speed calibra turbo conversion and went to the local police station and asked if they had any issues with it, thy said no, he never got pulled in 4 years of having it like that.

Aaron.

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 10/02/06*

Result, do it dunc mate i think i will but im near croydon and the police arent really freindly at the best of times!

So you had no proba at all with the rad location?
Use the "Scoop" thing thats on the standard one to direct some air if need be.
It reminds me of Hanibal Lectur(?)!! lol

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 10/02/06*

well you learn something new everyday, thanks for that info Aaron was interesting reading. like posts like that alot, never hurts to learn things.

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 10/02/06*

Great to see even more progress!!! You are really digging into it now!(y)

WIth the coolant rad it can just mount behind the radiator as the intercooler will not warm the air much atall (especially given its area:D ) so the coolant rad will be fine!

WIth the front grill, its quite deep right? Well if the inter is rammed right up against the scuttle panel/slam panel, and if its not flush with the headlights (recessed a bit) then you can carefully cut the vanes down so you just have a really shallow grill ;)

just what turbo are you going to run, or is it going to be a mish mass of turbo's to effectively make a hybrid job?

Is it going to be as big as this one?

or this one?

as you'll need cranks like these:-
spmrod.jpg

as you can see this volvo is running quite a large inter as well:D
54kylare.JPG

and that motors good for about ~550bhp @ the flywheel:D

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 10/02/06*

and the guy that gave me the 740 has just finished rebuilding his turbo and fitting the big valved B531 cyl head (well its a volvo head for a volvo and its got 30%bigger valves, plus it can run a V cam, whatever that is), he also thought it nessacery to install this beast before he turned up the boost :D

tryingitforfun2ns.jpg

thats 3" stainless piping on both ends, so its also a fair size!!!! inter was brand new and came from a 12.4l volvo truck (which the 42g turbo in the first pic above is from aswell) and only cost him £30 odd on ebay!! practically given away:D

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 10/02/06*

loving the volvo pics!! look mint!

ok, today i carried on making my brackets for my intercooler and drilled some more holes in my shell :D lol

so, here the brackets fitted, took a while to get em right but hey, no point messing it up!

18022006002.jpg

18022006003.jpg

once i done this i bolted up my intercooler and did some finer adjustments. really really supprised how secure it is! much better than my old intercooler! u can see the cooler fitted here in this mid day shot lol

18022006004.jpg

it was now time to continue hacking my bumper up! it was cut out alot before, but now its had to be cut out a stupid ammount! lol

mid cutting shot

18022006005.jpg

still looking neat,

18022006006.jpg

i had to keep putting the bumper on and taking it off again to get it right, took me bloody ages lol
can see here it still wasnt fitting!

18022006007.jpg

eventually, it was on! can only bolt the bumper on by the 2 side bolts that attach to the wings! i thought it would be too flinsy, but its actaully very very secure! :D

18022006008.jpg

as mentioned earlier in this thread, my grill might not be able to go on, but i thought id have a try at modding it! cos it looks a little bear without it

18022006009.jpg

angle grinder helped me give the grill a diet!

18022006011.jpg

and here it is all thinned out, still not finished it, but i'll carry on tomoz. not too sure on the grill, but ive had a different idea, good job i got a few grill! so doesnt matter if i mess em up lol

18022006012.jpg

then i fitted it temperally, just to get the overall idea

18022006014.jpg

and just to give u all an idea of how the front of my uno will look. number plates a bit iffy and wobbly but it'll be rate!

18022006015.jpg

so, what u all think peeps? honest comments welcome :D

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 10/02/06*

Wicked Dunc!

It’s starting to look liker you’re Tub again :D. I’ll reserve judgement on the grill for now. It might look better when you shut the bonnet :p

Good progress mate (y).

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread, NEW SHELL!!!!! *updated 10/02/06*

Looking mad mate.

Do you plan to leave the fiat logo inside the grill?

What about a sticker on the inside of the windscreen of the number plate?
Like a sun strip.
