Can't get into car this morning - am assuming it's just the battery in the key fob.
Nearest car place to get a replacement is a few miles away so dont really want to have to walk it.
If I open door with the key in the lock I know the alarm will go off - but will that stop once I turn the engine on or keep wailing away until I can get a new battery??
Anyone prepared to po out on to their drive & try for me??
Cheers,
Rob

manual

You can manually de-activate the alarm inside the car.

as you sit in the drivers seat, where your right knee is, there is a panel that has 2 plastic screws holding it in (need a flat implement to unsrew these, screw driver springs to mind) then in there you have some fuses but also a sliver keylock (may have a plastic rubber cover over it) you should have what can only be descibed as a "safety deposit key" when you bought the car, this key goes in that keylock, turn it 90 degrees of which way i can't remember but it will only turn one way and this turns the alarm off.

if you don't have this key your kinda screwed.

If so, give the key fob a good few hours to rest and then try unlocking again, electrons natually gather at the poles of a battery, even a very discharged one, thats why if you try to start a car with a flat battery that once it has died you can still keep repeating turning over the motor as long as you let the battery rest a few seconds.

putting key in

putting in the key in the ignition won't stop the alarm, if it hasn't come on when you open the door then turning the key in the ignition sets it off!

Re: putting key in

So let me get this straight. Fiats security system comprises a red key, a code card, an alarm key, and a blue key?

What a stupid bloody idea, i dont even think the dealers know how the stupid thing works. They blatently did it like that so when you lose one of the bits they can charge you $$$ for a new one!

blue keys =2
Alarm keys=2 see photo

This type of key will tune off the alarm

re

I'd guess ur new keys will have new tags>

my brava had two little alarm keys liek that!

i'm sure i still have them somewhere and coudl send one to someone if they needed it?

althoguh they are ary similiar to old keyboard lovk keys on pc's?

when you take the cover where the fuses are off do you have a litte round plastic cap? if yo do pull that off and you will see where you put the key in?

my car had it? so i dont know what ur manual is on about that it doesnt apply to uk market?

Re: re

One thing I have just noticed is that I do have a BRAVA manual and not a BRAVO, always wondered why there is never a mention of the HGT engine.

The plot thickens...

p.s i will gladly take one of them keys off you alan, but how universal are they (think about it, if they were all the same than I could spend all weekend breaking into bravos/bravas) but then this is fiat were talking about. If you find them i'll throw a small fee at you for it and the p&p.
