Hi
Twin Air cross... from nowhere knock knock through body shell when not under load
Power on fine
Lift off knock knock
Gear change fine
Prop shaft central bearing?
Help please

Not had this experience but it does suggest centre prop shaft bearing (assuming it drives in a straight line i.e not a catastrophic failure of a front suspension bush). Prop bearing is usually the bonded rubber surround that fails it seems. Should be able to inspect with the car on the ground and a torch to highlight anything untoward. I know there are pictures on here of a failing bearing (mount).

One last thought (but I think you have half covered this) you can be confident that it is not a DMF failure? (Dual Mass Flywheel).

Here's one thread https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/panda-4x4-clonking-juddering.502664/page-2#post-4699775

Also do the basics, check wheel niuts are tight and that the engine mounts are sound, Check exhaust mounts and drive shafts just in case. Dont leave it though as DMF failure can be catasrophically expensive if not caught in time.

80k miles
Clonking when not under load
No gear change issues
Ordered prop and will get it up in the air tomorrow
Came on from nothing to undrivable in 10 miles

How do i check for DMF issues please?
I don’t think there is a way to check the DMF without removing it and that is a big expensive job on these.

Just a few extra things to check if it’s not the propshaft. Check heat coming from each wheel after driving. They can sometimes have a seized brake calliper and the only sign it has happened is a clunking at slow speeds. You could also check the drive axels for play while you have it in the air and see if you have a CV joint gone bad. They have a habit of disintegrating even though the rubber boot looks all good. This may be more noticeable at slow speeds and particularly after about 30 mins of driving as heat changes the consistency of the CV grease.

Tough to get the cups out of the opposing flanges but otherwise all good
Replacement arrives Monday
Minded at 82k miles to change clutch and DMF as service maybe tricky in it's new home in Montenegro
What are your thoughts?

It may well have had it replaced before you bought it and you don’t know. Are you noticing any issues with the clutch?

How much was your new prop?
