Well i changed my tires today from 185/55/15's Conti Stock Premium 2's to 195/50/15 Michelin Pilot Exalto's. Now obviously they feel better and since the other tires were down to 3mm its no use comparing them for now haha. So far i have not pushed my tires as i dont want to destroy them the second i got them. I'll let you guys know how they feel, but from what i see i think every Fiat 500 driver on the 15 inch rims should switch to the bigger size when replacing their tires.
I really do not think there will be much of a fuel consumption difference and for some reason 185/55/15's are about 50-100 euros more expensive than 195/50/15's since the latter are much more mass available it would seem.
Michelin Pilot Exaltos are an excellent choice. Drove a QV and a SS that were shod with them and I thought they were brillant.
Only concern I would have with using tyres not listed in the handbook is the implications on one's insurance. Unsure how it would apply to you where you're based.
