I think you have just won the coveted RobinPJ award for the most off topic/random posting of the day.

I have scrolled back and still cannot work out what triggered you to post this - please do let on as I am very curious...
Even better is the Grampa Simpson Award

We can't bust heads like we used to. But we have our ways. One trick is to tell stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for m'shoe. So I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt. Which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you'd say. Now where was I... oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

FWIW - we were getting about 45mpg out of our 500c TwinAir to start with, but that has now crept up to nearer 55 ish after four months and 5000 miles.

That's a really positive comment! I'm averaging around 44-45mpg but still less than 1000 miles, I'm looking forward to watching the average mpg going up a bit :)

Wow, what an honour. I would like to thank my parents, god, the fairies at the bottom of the garden....... :D

It was in response to a question responding to an earlier post of mine. I simply forgot to include the quote :bang:
What were you driving before the TA. Performence is fine in fact great for such a car, we just did 2000 mile road trip around Europe no major complaints...

RobinPJ you Thank and Like things too quickly, give me a thanks too. You know I am saving my thanks for a FF prize - one day, one day :)

You're tempting me to dislike your post! And I didn't know there were rules about when to "thank" and "like"!

I guess I'm just easily pleased....

Yey! 100 thanks.

Hello twinair users! I was thinking and I assume that since the twinair is turbocharged, you lot put superunlead 97 octane fuel in it, like Shell VPower? If i had a turbo engine i would feel obliged to put the super juice in it and use the normal 95 for 'normal' naturally aspirated engines.
It must add a few hp for the turbo no?

No need, according to the handbook. 95 RON is okay.

Same here with the A500. (y)

I have tried BP Ultimate, Shell V Power and Tesco Momentum but have to be completely honest and say that I haven't noticed any diffference.

This could be because of the way I drive though.

Does the handbook recommend 98 saying it may give more power? I remember some turbo engines recommending that like I think the Mini Cooper S. If it does not mention anything then i guess yes no need!

The engine management system will to a degree self-adjust to make the best use of the characteristics of the fuel, and theoretically you'd expect a turbo to benefit more that a N/A car from the greater knock resistance of a higher octane fuel. That said, I suspect the real benefit of using any of the 'ultimate' fuels is that they generally have better additives & fewer contaminants, rather than the extra couple of RON points - but tbh I haven't as yet seen any properly substantiated cost-justification for using these super-premium fuels.

So I continue to use normal 95 octane fuel - but I do try to buy branded petrol in preference to the offerings of the local supermarket.

dealer found no issues with the TA so must be my right foot, oddly they must have done something as mpg has got better in the last week

i just stick to branded 95 normally from shell, bp and total

oddly i have had to make a couple of supermarket fills this week and 95 from tesco was awful for economy, oddly the 95 from sainsbury has performed better

Greetings all

Did a 35 mile trip to work in my wife’s duel logic this morning - ECO mode - driving like a nun! Managed to get just over 71mpg!!!!!
So it is possible, but painful! The 90 mph blast home was much more fun!
