Hello I am trying to trace a non starting problem and want to turn over the engine on the battery to see if I can get a spark, is there an easy way to activate the starter whilst at the engine bay other than passing a rope through the sun roof to the lever by the handbrake.

Hello I am trying to trace a non starting problem and want to turn over the engine on the battery to see if I can get a spark, is there an easy way to activate the starter whilst at the engine bay other than passing a rope through the sun roof to the lever by the handbrake.

Is it a 500 or 650 engine? On a 650 you can use a stick to press on the starter lever from the engine bay. If so make sure the insulation cover is present on the electric cable connection on the starter otherwise you can get a dead short on the slack starter cable

Hello and thank you Toshi it is a 650 engine and will try and see the role of the cover to be aware of before putting the stick in there.
