What should the air gap be, and is it significant?
The coil packs - they are not going to affect the fuel flow , are they?

Coil packs won't affect fuel flow.

Air gap should be around 0.5mm. Too big and the TDC sensor won't be able to pick up the signal from the trigger wheel. If there is no signal, the ECU doesn't believe the engine is turning over, so no spark, no fuel past the injectors.

All else aside, crank sensor is very strongly implicated.

Could it be the ECU? and if so, can I swap this from the donor car?

Update: It's not the crank sensor, and it's fault code P0352
