Hi all,
Help needed on towing electrics. I had a towbar with dedicated electrics (purchased from towingequipe) which was in a Fiat box fitted a year ago. This electric kit is for the later 'electronic' electrics multipla and it is a plug-in unit with its own mini wiring loom which is simpler fit than the alternative multiple by-pass relay kit. Everything was working perfectly for a year until today when I went about repairing my trailer wiring. One indicator was not working and when I was trying to reseat the bulb with the indicator turned on, I may have shorted it temporarily. Now even though I am pretty sure I have the trailer wiring ok, when plugged in, the indicators don't work on either car or trailer. The car flasher unit operates too fast but the rear indicators hardly light at all and nothing lights on the trailer. Brake and side lights work fine. Once I disconnect the trailer plug, the car indicators return to normal and work fine. Do you think I have blown something in the electronic wiring module fitted for towing. Is there an additional flasher unit that I have damaged or could there be some sort of fuse protecting it? Any help appreciated!
