Had my Tipo a couple of days now, not noticed it until today.... but there's a definite noise coming from the gear box, goes away when the clutch is depressed, so am thinking the thrust bearing is on its way out potentially, just my luck really.
Having had a new clutch fitted in my jag a while back ,I know how expensive this job can be.
My Tipo is the 1.6 multijet diesel, 6 speed box.
Is it a duel mass fly wheel and can anyone give me a ball park figure for a clutch replacement on this model and how long is it likely to take ? I've been led to believe it's an 8 hour job on these cars , hopefully that's incorrect

Just to be clear: if the noise is present with the clutch pedal up and disappears when you press the pedal, that usually points to gearbox/input shaft noise rather than the release bearing.

If the noise disappears when the clutch pedal is pressed, that usually points to gearbox/input shaft or idle rattle rather than the release bearing.Either way, the gearbox has to come off — and at 134k it would be false economy not to fit a new clutch at the same time.

On the 1.6 Multijet it is a dual-mass flywheel.
A DMF can rattle at idle and often quietens when the clutch pedal is pressed, so the symptom fits.
Once the gearbox is out, it’s important to inspect the DMF properly — excess rotational play, roughness or heat marks mean replacement.
At this mileage, many people choose to replace clutch and DMF together to avoid paying the same labour twice.
Some DMFs do last well beyond this mileage, but it really depends on driving history — inspection with the gearbox off is the key.

Thanks for the reply Mike, I'll be going down the full change route, dmf and clutch replacement at the same time, did the same on my old jag , false economy not to.
Fortunately I can get the actual job done at work, staff discount,so labour costs won't be as bad as they might otherwise have been, just wanted an idea of how long the job is likely to take, finding it hard to believe it's an 8 hour job but never having had any experience with Fiats ,I'm just guessing.
Price wise when I had the dmf and clutch kit fitted on the Jag , the cost was £850 .00 supplied and fitted...am also guessing that' it's going to be around the same price for the Tipo
