good evening, please I recently changed injector pump of my fiat ducato 2.8idtd it comes with sofim engine 8140.43 but unfortunately the injector engineer that repair the pump do advanced the timing in injector tooth by 4 teeth, the engine do start once when it is cold but when warmed up it won't start, it behave as if I have bad battery so I have to wait an hour or more to makes it cool down before it starts up again, please what can I do to rectify this, thanks

Hi jidebl,

If I understand correctly, you have changed the injection pump, and because the replacement pump was faulty, the injection timing has been seriously advanced.

If you have not touched the timing belt, then the replacenent pump must have been either faulty, as you suggest, or the wrong one for your engine.

If possible you should talk to the supplier/repairer of the pump.

Unfortunately you will probably have to replace the pump a second time.

The only other alternative that I can think of, would be to re-time the engine to accomodate the pump that you have. I do not reccomend this as it would not be an easy job, possibly worse than changing the pump. Also it could cause serious problems in the future, particularly if the pump is not matched to your engine.

thanks for your quick reply, the only thing the injector man change is rotor, complete housing is what came with the engine, the man just fixed the injector we never touch the timing belt or alter anything concerning timing, he fixed the injector and left me to finish the rest because he knows I am capable of assemble the rest components, when I finished coupling I rotate the engine and discover the injector is not aligned with the rest crankshaft and camshaft, I then called him that he made a mistake AT&T said he intentionally advance the timing saying I should not worried, that is will work I it started alright but won't start when it warmed up, I called him but he has travel to other place for another job
What I want to know is should I set the injector pump to it's original state and see if it will work I thanks.

I don't know what the injector pump man did .....but.....if he did not remove the timing belt pulley from the injector pump you can reset it correctly yourself using locking pins.

For correct operation, the timing marks on the crankshaft, camshaft, and the pump should line up.

There is a system for advancing the injection slightly when starting from cold. However when injection is advanced too far, as on your engine the fuel wil ignite well before before TDC and stall the engine, as is happening.

If it was my engine, I woud set up eerthing correctly.
