Fiat used to recommend every 72,000 miles but it was reduced to 50 or 60,000 (can't remember which) several years ago.
5 years/72,000 miles which ever is soonest, personally iv ran one upto 8 years/95,000 but obviously it could snap before then!!
i have never seen a jtd 8v timing belt interval changed from 5yr/72k?
I saw it on a menu servicing price list on the wall of a local Fiat dealer (Ancaster, Welling) a few years ago. I told them my service book says 72,000 miles, service manager said it was changed by Fiat several years previously because of some premature failures.
I think ill go with your advice Davren can you recommend water pump ( maker to purchase only want to replace once).

I always use Dayco for timing belt kits (part number KTB317 for the JTD 8v) and original Fiat water pumps.

Depends on the VIN.

One of my doblos was 5 years old exactly (44000 miles) when I got it, the timing belt was split halfway through...I was lucky!
I always change 1.9JTD belts at 5 years/50k and NO later...I don't care who says otherwise and yes water pump as well as this is often the cause of damaged engines.
